Do any of you ever get ideas from dreams you had while asleep? Just curious. That is where most of my ideas come from :)

CloseOh wow, I JUST had some dreams that were pretty inspiring, but more in a visual-style sense than a story sense. It doesn't happen often, but sometimes I get great story ideas from dreams, too. I love when that happens :DDD

I love it when that happens too. It's how I get most of my ideas. All you have to do is fix it up, and put it together so it makes sense, and if there was things that you liked, and disliked about it, just keep the parts you liked, or don't mind. I try to write down my dreams when this happens. :D

Sometimes I will have an idea in a dream and think to myself, "Wow, what an awesome idea! I'd better remember this when I wake up!"
Then I wake up and remember it and it's absolute garbage. Dreaming me is an idiot.

It's true that most of my ideas are inspired by old sci-fi and fantasy books and short stories, but sometimes, some of my ideas come exclusively from dreams.

There was a game I tried making that was based on dreams I had ages ago, but, eh, didn't work out that well.

Pretty damn often, really. Hell, there's been times where I was working on a game, not entirely sure how I want to go about it, and then BAM!, a dream comes along and solves that for me.
But more often than not I just get ideas that go into my "things too stupid to actually do, but also too stupid to ignore".
More often for me it's like "I should remember this", and then I wake up and suffer complete brain-dump, especially when trying to remember music. Other times I fall back asleep and have other dreams, forgetting the ones before.

I had a dream a few nights ago where I was on a spaceship in unfamiliar territory and an alien species saw us as encroaching in their space and decided to wipe us out. We put up a fight but eventually gave up and I let myself get decapitated by a laser beam. I woke up at that moment and could still sort of feel a warmness in my neck.
There was also a blue elephant-sortof looking alien who had 2 pistols and was shooting the bad aliens as they tried to get in a doorway. He eventually ran out of bullets and charged at them and something was thrust through his torso.
Someone use that.

Mostly, I just find that things that make perfect sense in dreams, end up not really making much sense in real life.
