Yanfly Engine Ace - Ace Core Engine
author=YF
There's no icon drawing in Sprite_Battler. The only thing close that line of code you've pasted is within Window_Base. No such code exists within any of my scripts.
To which:
480x320 resolution: No errors.
My conclusion: You've either messed up your own base scripts or you've downloaded some cheesy "full version" of RMVXA.
Nah, I've posted my copy of ace(box photo) on RRR and the ace community. I own ace, the problem was with another script I was working on(wasn't finished) that was causing the error, just odd that it was ONLY when you resized the window.

Rukiri your copy must be outdated.
I downloaded the script yesterday..
Here's the issue, try it on oh say 480X320.
icons.each_with_index {|n, i| draw_icon(n, x + 24 * i, y) }
Now it'll popup with an error, it was easier to just remove that command.
Just odd that it fails on smaller resolutions.

Pretty nice, I actually just wrote my own res script, but a few things are broken such as in Sprite_Battler (each_index) if less than 544X416, so I'd remove that command if your going to use a smaller res.

author=Arandomgamemakerauthor=RukiriYou have it? Tell me, what exactly are the capabilities of the updated RGSS?author=Supaguy_ProductionsFind what? Ace? Amazon Japan, and either ship to your family over there or use a shipping service like tenso.author=RukiriWhere do you find it?
Well I received my copy today and I'm pretty satisfied with ace, the $200 pricetag with shipping wasn't to bad and if you think $90 is bad than wow.. that's pretty cheap for a game engine, as game engines can go from hundreds to thousands of dollars. The pro version of Unity is $1,500.
Ace's best feature, it's awesome box art^^
I haven't messed with RGSS3 much but have been told that it's basically Ruby 1.9.2 with the RGSS terms, anything ruby 1.9 can do so can rgss3.
Windows, handlers, and now managers are very well done and it's a great standard library for ruby(the editor was a bonus) Rpg maker now feels like a RPG library for ruby and a good one at that.
Say you want a Chrono Trigger system, can easily be implemented and it's not difficult to have battles on the map than switching to a battle screen(there was even a VX scripting tutorial for this battle system) I plan on writing the Ace version for it.
But, what if action is your cup of tea? Well it can be done fairly easily but like any library you need to know what you're doing so I'd read scripts first but Seiken Densetsu 3 can be made in Ace, Zelda easily, Tales of can be done without issue.
To put it bluntly just Call this the 1970s-PS2(early) RPG Maker.
And Supaguy(The full version kicks so much ass!)
So how does this stack up against other makers? If your goal is to create a snes/ps2 era RPG your good to go, but if you want to have a game with loads of 3D effects(out of the late PS1 era) use Torque 3D and use sprites. There was a script that had good 3D depth for XP so you can make PS1 RPGs but that was said about rpg maker XP and VX. Ace uses 1.9 but I have never truly tested 3D with ruby so if someone more advanced at ruby than me answer this it'd be a better explanation.
Also, if your just looking to Make 2D games ace is for you, you can even code street fighter 2 with it but that's pretty advanced lol but can be done.
RPG Maker VX Ace

If this is the 2003 of VX then we should be able to convert VX projects to VXAce projects. After all, Ruby 1.9 should just be able to handle VX scripts, but iron's out the glitches present in the VX scripts.
Nope, RGSS3 is practically handled a different way than rgss 1 and 2, it's because it's not an edited version of ruby or better terms as a hack job.
There's many changes with windows, scenes, handlers, and the addition of using managers to handle things complicates a easy vx>ace transfer.
If you were lucky enough to only event than guess what? Your project can be transferred to ace by manually copying it over, with those that scripted you have to completely recode your scripts. There's no getting around that.
Also, I preferred 2000 over 2k3, had more patches.

RPG Maker VX Ace

Hn, its bad, thats all I'll say. Its like a mixture of XP and VX... I think they'll be releasing an XP Ace or something next...
Its good, yeah, but now their just releasing new versions of the RPG Maker just for the sake of it... At least, thats what I think...
The fact that it uses ruby 1.9.2 is more than enough for people to upgrade to ace.
RPG Maker VX Ace Sample Games
These were games that were bundled with the Japanese version of RPG Maker VX Ace, these are untranslated but they're easy to figure out. These weren't made to be difficult so language isn't an issue.
