Rm2k3 Jumping Problem

I have a common event for Jumping, and it works...to an extent.

My problem is when I am facing the top edge of a cliff, which should be 30 feet high, but in reality is one tile away, my hero can jump the whole thing. Using events (I assume) how do i fix it so on one tile if hero is facing right, the hero can't jump, but other directions he can (all on one tile). Thanks...

I guess I'm back!

It's been a few years since I have touched RPGMaker, due to the frustration I faced when I lost all my work on my game due to a computer meltdown.

I am now in college and am working hard on my game again, and am very excited to try to actually *gasp* finish my game. I use to post here often about two years ago, and I am glad I have returned!

[Critique] My Game's Story...so far.

I have started my old game idea from scratch in the past few days. I am mostly just mapping and figuring out the main plot at the moment. Any critiques and suggestions would be awesome!

Lessents Story

The main plot of Lessents Story revolves around a ring of great power (and a hobbit...just kidding). Whoever wears this ring is granted their deepest dream to be a reality. The act of putting on this ring not only grants you your dream, but also bonds the wearer and the ring together: for as long as the wearer is alive, the ring's pact can't be broken. More mystery could possibly surround the ring.

To summarize, many years ago the last person to hold the ring threw it up from a floating isle, after it cost him his life, and everyone he ever loved. The ring landed in the ocean and eventully found its way to a cave. The game starts out in a normal town, with a normal young man, Lessents. Basicly, Lessents' sister goes missing after she discovers the ring, and decides to put it on, not knowing that it would grant her the dream to be the Princess. Lessents goes on a journey to find his sister, and finds that an Empire has been searching for the ring for years. Upon his Sister's new identity and pact with the ring, the original Princess is on a journey to discover what has happened to herself, and why nobody recogonizes her. Destiny will have it that Lessents and the real Princess join together, along with many other companions to discover the secrets of the ring.

I don't want to give too much away, but I was wondering if this sounded interesting or original at all. I have many interesting twists and turns planned.

Help - Can't find cloud overlay...

I have been on a journey for the past hour looking for a simple cloud overlay that I use to have. When used right, the shadow of a few clouds would slowly float on top of everything. I can't for the life of me find this! Any help/direction would be much appreciated.

*I tried google, and have searched many sites.

Editing the DBS, and skills.

Ok, I have a few questions involving the DBS. If someone could help out or point me in the right direction, it would mean a lot.

EDIT* Nevermind, I figured out that the 100%MP consumed, would mean 100% for any level.

Second...how can I add a command that is actully basicly a spell(restores partial MP)...but add it under the main commands, like Attack, Defend, Items, etc...

Making the DBS interesting

*Just posted this on gamingworld too, but wanted opinions from as many people as possible*

I know a lot of people hate the DBS for whatever reasons, and making a CBS would be pretty cool I guess, however, I am going to stick with the DBS since I don't know any coding.

This isn't just a help me thread, I guess everyone can put in their input, but how can we make the DBS more interesting, and simply fun to play?

Something I am going to test out, is to simplify HP, MP, etc...If you have ever played the Paper Mario series, you know that you have very low health and MP, but so do the monsters. At the time of leveling up, you can choose what you want to increase. Does something similar to this sound interesting? Make certain spells say, 5MP, out of like 20, and then some spells like 3MP. This way, every spell you cast matters more to the fight. Then I was thinking of having an "MP BREAK" command, which basicly drains all the little MP you have, and makes for one mega spell, it could also involve the whole team of fighers. Then you could have another command, something like "Rest", which you do nothing for a turn, but MP is restored...

This is all I can come up with now, because I know very little coding. But yeah, any thoughts, ideas, comments, verbal abusing is much abreciated.

Music...makes the people..

I wont ever sing Madonna again, but I needed your opinions on music in indie gaming.

First of all, do you use headphones while playing indie games? If not, would you if the game featured MP3 songs?

That brings me to my next question: Would you rather listen to midis the whole game, for a smaller file size, or, download a larger game with MP3 music, making the music much better?
