DirectDraw Error (DDERR_UNSUPPORTED)

Whenever I try to launch an RPG Maker 2003 game I get this error. This error only appears when launching finished games and demos that automatically go into full screen mode.

If I'm test playing a game (so it comes up in the 640x480 window) then there are no problems, if I try to go from test playing into full screen I get the exact same error.

Some of the games I want to play are "locked" (I can't open them in RPG Maker 2003) so I can't just launch them in test play mode.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate, my graphics card is an NVidia GeForce 9500 GT, my resolution is 1768x992 and I'm using a HDMI cable.

Is there anything I can change with regards to system settings or alternatively, anything I can add to RPG_RT.ini to make the games launch in Windowed mode?

Myself and Asalieri (Tellahasa) were looking to do a collab video on RM2k3 games, I thn came across this issue.

EDIT: A somewhat long-winded solution so far has been to create a Shortcut to RPG_RT.exe, then right click, select Properties, and on the end of the Target line (where it shows the location of the original RPG_RT.exe for the game) add "NormalPlay ShowTitle Window" at the end.

Favourite puzzles in video games?

Title pretty much says it all. There have been some great puzzles in games like Tomb Raider. Portal makes an entire game from puzzles! So, what are some of your favourite puzzles from video games?

Personally, I love environmental puzzles, where it's just you and the environment. I find they ooze atmosphere and make you feel as though you're actually interacting with the game, having a conversation with it. "Does this work? OK, what happens if I do this?"

My recollection of game puzzles is quite poor despite enjoying them so I have no specific examples, but I know games like Prince of Persia are full of them.

Sonic Retrospective (20th Anniversary)

Hey guys, I'm currently doing a retrospective on the old Sonic games for the 20th anniversary, figured some of you might want to check it out. Part one was uploaded today and looks at Sonic 1 on the Mega Drive (Genesis)

Let me know what you think =)

If you enjoyed this there are a lot more Sega and Sonic related videos on my YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/afr0blu3

Modern REFMAP

Anyone still have the modern REFMAP chipsets? It'd be a huge help if you do!

A Princess Needs My Urgent Help!

Just did this for the hell of it.

Zach Furr Sonic Sprites

I distinctly remember there being a sheet of these sprites, but facing in all four directions and with walking poses, but I can't find one anywhere on the net. I don't suppose any of you guys have a copy?

I Met Tellahasa The Other Week

If anyone remembers the guy (he goes by Asalieri on YouTube), I spent two weeks with him and his wife (Suzuricho I think she went by back in her RMN days) for my birthday the other week. He has some videos about it here called A Brit Abroad.

(Apparently some of this stuff was banned due to the colourings, not the sugar content, and some people have also sent me the addresses of import stores in the UK that stock some of these foods - the more you know!)

Part 5: Waterpark and Goodbye
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEob0EBLVFQ&feature=channel_video_title
(Again since this went up I've been told we do have a waterpark, it's just the other side of the country and mostly indoors)

I had a blast, I did lose my voice for a whole day though and it was never quite 100% so I sound weird in most of the footage. Why post it now? Because WIP met a fellow RMNer, I saw his topic and though "I see your meeting with photo evidence and I raise you video evidence!"

Skype Is Awesome. Anyone Here Use It?

Quite a simple topic. If I am on the PC, usually I'm on Skype and I like talking to like minded people (such as Tellahasa/ Asalieri who used to frequent this place and his wife Suzuricho/ SuzuriHeinze - can't remember which one she went by on here, I've met the two IRL now as well, but that is another story for another topic) and I figured "Hey I should ask RMN if they use this thing too!"

So yeah, post your Skype handles here if you fancy a chin wag. Mine is SamW89, same as my old XBL GamerTag.

Trying to Get the missus into RM

Hey guys, the missus recently complained that she's run out of good RPGs to play. I offered to make her one, but then I had the thought that actually, RPG Maker would probably be right up her street. I can teach her easy enough, but the first step into getting her into the hobby is to show her some games made preferably in 2k3 to show her the potential of what she, or we, could actually make.

I admit my finger is far from the pulse of the community these days and I rarely show my face. Anyone got some recommendations of some good, complete, 2k3 RPGs?

RPG Maker 2003 Test Play Error

So I recently upgraded to Windows 7, and now, when I try to play RPG Maker 2003 titles I get this error:

Anyone want to lend a guy a hand? Please tell me it doesn't mean no more RM2k3 for me =(
