Do you play RM games with headphones?

post=213173
I've tried playing RM games with headphones but the music volume seems to be painfully different from the sound effects, so I get a peaceful volume for music but an eardrum-splitting volume for sound effects. It's because of this that, unless there are others in the house that I'd rather not have listen to my gaming, I prefer to just use speakers.
If the music is in midi format and sound effects in wav, then set the WAVE in your volume control (icon in systray) lower and/or set the SW SYNTH higher, and adjust your MASTER VOLUME accordingly.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I live in a row house with typically thin walls, so to avoid disturbing my neighbors--since my computer desk with speakers is right next to the bedroom wall, and there's no other place in the room where I can put the desk--I regularly use earphones for music/video/gaming.
And I hate the way Windows will randomly increase the volume for no discernible reason--I've gotten into the habit of checking the volume setting before starting a game, video, etc.but sometimes I forget and then it's AHHHH MY EARS DAMMIT!!
So, they tell me one thing and tell you another...just perfect *rolls eyes*
And now, checking the link they sent me that has their report on this file, I see they've indeed changed their minds.
Instead of calling it outright "MALWARE" they now claim:
"The file 'config.exe' has been determined to be 'FALSE POSITIVE'. In particular this means that this file is not malicious but a false alarm. Detection will not be removed due to the fact that the file contains malicious but non working fragments. This is an indicator that it was not disinfected properly from a previous infection. We recommend to restore the original copy from a backup media."
Here's the link if you'd like to see for yourself:
As for which of their 3 different evaluations for the same file is correct...
Heck if I know.
Btw, for some unknown reason the original email reply they sent me was in Spanish even though I submitted the file through their English submission page:
"O arquivo “config.exe” foi designado como “MALWARE”. Nossos analistas chamaram a ameaça de W95/CIH. O termo "W95/" refere-se a um vírus ou malware de arquivo executado nos sistemas Windows 95/98/Me.A detecção será adicionada ao nosso VDF (virus definition file, arquivo de definição de vírus) a partir da versão 6.36.00.09.
Se preferir, você pode ver o resultado da análise aqui":
Turbie
WARNING: config.exe contains a virus.
This was confirmed by Avira's malware analysis team.
Here's the results they e-mailed back to me:
The file 'config.exe' has been determined to be 'MALWARE'. Our analysts named the threat W95/CIH. The term "W95/" denotes a file virus or malware that runs on Windows 95/98/Me systems.Detection is added to our virus definition file (VDF) starting with version 6.36.00.09.
So, even though this virus is only supposed to affect older Windows systems only, still it's recommended that you delete config.exe and DO NOT open it just to be safe.
The game's exe file, however, appears to be virus-free.
Why not just increase the running speed in areas with no monster encounters like towns, castles, etc?
That's really where a faster moving speed is needed anyway.
And it actually makes sense that in dangerous monster-infested areas, the party would move slower and more cautiously, while when in safe areas the party would move much quicker and less cautiously.
Maker Change
You only mentioned the graphics before as your reason, nothing about scripts and features.
In that case, if you want to use VX, make the switch.
Although most graphics resources for VX are chibi/blocky.
Maybe XP's a better choice? Or at least use resources made for XP with VX?
Final Tear 1
For anyone else who has Avira and doesn't feel like dealing with the installer giving a false positive for malware, here's a rar file of Final Tear 1 -- UNPATCHED (but with both patches included)
