Attention all Nerds: Text Based Adventure!

Ike (hit -1, dmg +2, evd -1, block +4 to chest, hands, and feet, block +3 to head, arms, and legs)
You thrust your longsword at barbarian 1 (hit-2, dmg+2, evd-1, block+1) and (6-1h+1e) drive it squarely through his (2) leg (4+1+2d-1b) and hit a major artery! He is bleeding heavily and is mortally wounded. He is unable to counterstrike or stand. He will probably die soon.

SlaveChild (-1 hit, +2 dmg, -1 evd, +2 block legs, +1 block rest)
You stab at barbarian 2 (1-1h+1e) and miss! Barbarian 2 is unable to counter or stand. (3) He has lost too much blood and passes out. Within a few seconds he dies anyway.

Ferdinand (-1 hit, +2 dmg, -1 evd, +2 block chest/arms, +1 block rest)
You whistle and call for your chickens. They (6) gather around you in a classic V strike formation! They will assist all attacking/defending maneuvers by providing you with +1 to all stats for 1 turn.

RabitZ (hit -1, dmg +2, evd -1, block +2 chest/arms, +1 to rest of body)
You throw your iron sword at barbarian 3 (-1h, +3 dmg, -3 evd, +1 block). The spinning blade (2-1h+3e)nearly misses but then strikes him in the (3) arm! The blow (3-1+2d-1b) cuts through a tendon disabling his arm! He is shocked and too far to counter-attack but is still dangerous.

Marrend (hit +1, evd +1, block -1)
You attempt to retreat to find a place to address your wounds (2) but do not see any place to go! Your arm is bleeding heavily and you feel light headed. You pass out but the blood continues to run from your arm. Each pump of your heart squirts the blood a little less far than the one before. Eventually the blood slows to a trickle. You have died. (rolled 1 for mortality check)

Cadeon (-1 hit, +2 dmg, -1 evd, +2 block leg/foot, +1 block rest)
You set loose Remington. He charges barbarian 3 (-1h, +3 dmg, -3 evd, +1 block) and attacks! Remington (1-3e) nearly misses but then clamps down on the barbarian's (6) neck! He rips at the barbarian's throat (6-1) causing heavy damage to the soft tissue. The barbarian is bleeding and may be mortally wounded. He is unable to counterstrike this turn and will suffer a -1 stat penalty to all stats for the next round. You follow quickly behind Remington attacking the barbarian 3 (-2h,+2d,-4e) with your axe and (6-1h+4e)land the blow squarely on his hand severing it from his arm!

LockeZ (dmg +3, block +4 legs/feet/hands, block +3 head/chest/arms.)
You watch as the last two barbarian's bleed to death on the ground. With all immediate threats eliminated, you go over to Marrend's corpse. You hold your torch to the body. (6) It is alight in a funeral pyre.

Barbarian 6 (-1h,+2d,-1evd,+1b) attacks Shortstar (-2h,-1d,-1b) with his shortsword and (6-1h) cuts deeply on Shortstar's (6)head. The blow (4+2d+1b) cleaves a large portion of Shortstar's skull spilling its contents onto the ground. Shortstar is dead. The barbarian sees that his companions have fallen and runs before the party can find him.

The battle is over!

Never assume you know the player will do. The game designer knows where all the shiny is hidden. A new player doesn't.

This is something that really frustrates me when I play other people's games. When I am working on my game, I have to constantly remind myself to give the player help in knowing which way to go or what to do next but you never really know what they'll do until they play it. Great point.

Attention all Nerds: Text Based Adventure!

Marrend
You attempt to disengage from the enemy and (roll 4) succeed! You are outside of the reach of the barbarian but he is pursuing you. You are still heavily wounded because of your arm (rolled 6) but you do not die. However, if the wound is not addressed soon, it is only a matter of time before you succumb to the damage.

Cadeon
You take up a defensive position. You receive +1 block while in this stance.

Ferdinand
You release the chickens on the wounded barbarian. (rolled 3) His flailing on the ground scares them and they scatter.

LockeZ
You send a volley of torches at the barbarian (-2h,+2d,-1e,+1b). (3+1e) They graze him (3-1+1h-1b) but do not do any damage. He stops pursuing Marrend and turns towards you.

RabitZ
You are unable to see barbarian 6. You attack barbarian 1 (-2h,+2d,-1e,+1b) with your iron sword as he runs towards LockeZ (1-1h+1e) you miss (2) spectacularly nearly stabbing your pig. The barbarian continues towards LockeZ.

-

Barbarian 1 (-2h,+2d,-1e,+1b) attacks LockeZ (2-2h) but is unable to connect. LockeZ counter-strikes (6+1e) and lands a vicious blow with The Blade on the barbarian's (5) chest. The attack (3+1-1b+3d) splits his torso from his shoulder to hip bone. The barbarian is split in two. The barbarian grabs at the dirt for a few seconds dragging his upper body away from his legs then collapses face down in the dirt.

Barbarian 2 (rolled 4) is fading but still alive. He has lost too much blood to stand and is still squirming on the ground grasping his neck.

Barbarian 3 catches his breath and straightens up. The front of his clothes are slick with blood but he appears more ferocious than ever. He no longer suffers from a stat penalty. Barbarian 3 is alive and pissed.

Barbarian 4 is still dead.

Barbarian 5 (roll 3) crawled a few feet into the brush and then died of blood loss.

Barbarian 6 has found Shortstar in the woods. Barbarian 6 (-1h,+2d,-1evd,+1b) sneaks up behind Shortstar (roll 6) without Shortstar noticing! Barbarian 6 swings his sword at Shortstar (3-1h+1e) and nearly misses but lands a hit on the (2) leg! The attack (6-2+2d) severs Shortstar's leg above the knee. Shortstar is bleeding, grasping at her leg, and is unable to return the attack. Shortstar cannot stand and will suffer -1 penalty to all stats next turn. Shortstar is unable to attack next turn. Shortstar will die if nothing is done about the wound soon. Barbarian 6 is alive and pumped up.

Ike
While riding towards the group you (rolled 3) gallop past and miss shortstar in the woods. As you get closer you see a horrific scene full of dead and wounded people fighting on the road. You are now within range to join the action.

SlaveChild
Is on foot, moving slower than Ike, and will not arrive until after the next turn.

Idida and squire
You are nowhere to be found. You are away from the group. -1 block next turn.

Six barbarians appear on the hills around the group and charge forward. Since they were undetected, the ambush worked and they strike before anyone can react!!!

Male Barbarian 1 (-2h,+2d,-1e,+1b) attacks by swinging a dull axe at Marrend's (rolled 3 - arm). The attack (rolled 6-2h-1e) almost misses but still hits and (rolled 6-2+2d+1b) severs the arm! Marrend is reeling from the massive amount of damage and is unable to counterstrike.

Male Barbarian 2 (-2h,+2d,-1e,+1b) attacks by thrusting his spear at Ferdinand's (rolled 6 - head). The attack (rolled 1-2h+1e) comes nowhere near him. The attack throws off Male Barbarian 2's balance (evd -1). Ferdinand pulls an arrow from the quiver and releases it at the barbarian. The arrow sails towards the barbarian's (rolled 6) head. The arrow (4-1h+1e) almost misses but still hits. It (rolled 5-1+2h-1b) grazes the barbarians neck but opens up his artery! The barbarian is losing blood fast. The barbarian is on the ground clutching his neck. He is mortally wounded but still alive.

He (4+3) connects with a critical hit. The attack (1+1-1b+3d) cuts into the barbarian's gut. The barbarian is winded but still living. The barbarian has -1 to all stats(-2h,+2d,-4e) and will miss the next turn.

Male Barbarian 4 (-1h,+2d,-1e,+1b) attacks Cadeon with a pitchfork and he (4-1h+1e) grazes Cadeon's arm (4-1+2-1) wounding him but Cadeon counters by swinging his Great axe at the barbarian. He (5-2h+1e) nearly misses but still slashes the barbarian's (4) abdomen. The attack (4-1+4d-1b) opens his stomach and spills the barbarian's guts. The barbarian grasps at his entrails desperately trying to push them back into the cavity as he falls to his knees then dies. Due to the wound, Cadeon will receive -1d next turn and will be unable to swing the axe for 1 turn.

Male Barbarian 5 (-1h,+2d,-1e,+1b) swings his club at RabitZ (2-1h) but the attack misses. RabitZ counterattacks with his iron sword and he (5-1h+1e) does heavy damage by connecting with the barbarian's (1/5)foot. The foot flies off at the ankle. The barbarian is bleeding to death and is unable to stand.

The

funny vid. this project looks amusing. I don't know if the whole fem thing would get old but it's entertaining so far.

Sorry, somehow missed the woman lying in the road bit. EDIT'd.
author=kentona
(oh I completely missed that last bit. I just skimmed over it. I didn't realize we had already left!)

No prob. Sorry I didn't make it clear when I was wrapping up the results of the morning in town!

author=LockeZ
I would like to purchase all four pieces of peasant armor (and equip them of course), as well as 2 rations, 2 waterskins, 4 ropes, and 35 torches. I believe that uses up all my money.

I think I forgot to tell you that hero has access to all the levels of equipment. If you want to keep that gear you can but if you don't, you can buy a horse or metal armor or something instead a million torches.

author=Marrend
*OOC post: My character will probably not care about the woman. Probably wouldn't care much about LockeZ attacking her either. It will probably only react if it senses danger to itself.

You can scan for danger like you said in your last post. I just didn't know if that was your official action at the woman.

What are you currently reading?

Tying up loose ends in A Dance with Dragons.

Gods, I love this series.

I'm still reading a Game of Thrones. I need to finish it so that I can move on to another one of the books in the series. It's just hard to stick to it since I already know what happens in this one from the tv series.

What are you thinking about right now?

I'm trying to make a list of all the possible ways I can use 17 chickens.
USE #46
BATTLE ROYAL-STYLE COCK FIGHT

@The chicken iditarod was great thinking outside box. I just don't know if you want to use your turn at the woman attempting to craft a chicken powered sleigh lol.

Attention all Nerds: Text Based Adventure!

Just a reminder, you can role-play what is happening like the posts above but you don't have to! However, everyone does have to put their official bold command for the current scenario--standing on the road with a woman on the ground ahead. Thanks!

For example:

Pick up rock and throw it at the woman laying in the road

ps. Some people still have actions that don't count towards their action for the day. For example, Short, LockeZ, and Idida can all access the shops back at town before taking a turn at the woman. Once they do, they'll instantly catch up to the group and can take their current turn.

Attention all Nerds: Text Based Adventure!

The giant half-naked man stood in the mud in front of the keep. The ale ran through his beard as he tossed a chalice aside and smashed his helmet down onto his head.

"Gather round dogs!" he yelled with his hands raised high over head. The people drudged from place to place, backs hunched under the weight of the yokes on their shoulders. A few people stopped and stared.

"Our lord, your master..." he said pointing to the crowd with one hand and the top of the tower with the other "needs your help!" His words were moving but nothing compared to the promise of food and coin that followed.

One by one the people filed into the keep. There they signed or made their mark on the enlistment papers. All were fed and quartered according to their lot in life. The next morn they were called to order.

"Less than a fortnight past those goat-loving worms of Barata crossed the South'rn river and besieged Fort Gregor." He muttered pacing to and fro staring at the greenhorns. "We have lost contact with them." He was getting more agitated. "Our lord has kin in that fort!"

"If you think...lose and...live or die ..in a pig's eye!" Now he was just worked up into a frenzy of vulgarity and gibberish but everyone knew what they had to do. Reach the fort and raise the siege or at least get inside.

While preparing to leave the town one her fellow travelers asked Shortstar about her job. Shortstar responded that she was a blacksmith but was saddened by the thoughts of her struggling in her craft. Shortstar explained that people are reluctant to go to women for work on their metal. (rolled 4)

Shortstar remembered that she had left some equipment at home and tried to decide what she would do with it.

*Notice* Unlocked optional class bonus: Free metal helmet and breastplate. Will add +1 block to head (helmet) and +1 block to chest (breastplate) but will cost -1 to evade.

Additional Class Bonus: Access to all levels of equipment including knight.

Pending/Action Required: Must decide what to do with the free gear. May wear or not wear either or both, sell for half of the store's selling price, trade, give, or attempt some other custom command.

While Shortstar thought about what she would do, a man dressed like a soldier could be seen nearby atop a fine steed. Upon closer inspection, it became clear to those who were apt to notice that he was pulling a pig behind the horse with a rope. The pig fussed by tugging away from the horse and rider. It was obvious that animal was not accustomed to being pulled. However, there were no immediate problems and neither the pig nor rider appeared to be any worse or better for the situation.

Suddenly, everyone's attention was drawn away from the horse and pig show to a strange woman flailing her arms, waving a dagger in the air, and speaking about something called "robots". She even acted like one of these "robots". It was obvious that while in this trance she truly believed that she was such a creature but to everyone else, a frightening thought washed over them: "Was she a charlatan or a prophet able to see into the future?" Only time would tell... (rolled 4)

*Notice* Unlocked Class: Fortune teller.
Potential bonus: Predict future outcomes for promotion to prophet.
Potential risk: Erroneous predictions may result in being branded a charlatan.

Just when it seemed like nothing could draw the people's attention from the mad woman dancing possessed by the devil, He appeared... carrying the legendary blade that was said to be made by some chaotic elder trickster god who's name had long since been forgotten. It was said to be the salvation or destruction of mankind, the nameless blade. And it was wielded by a man named "LockeZ". (submitted entry Peasant/Male via pm - Rolled 6)

*Notice* Unlocked Class: Hero. Class bonus includes nullification of gender weaknesses. Removed -1 hit/-1 evd penalty.

Additional Class Bonus: Nameable Legendary Sword. Sword carries a +2 dmg/+1 block bonus.

Additional Class Bonus: The villagers have taken up a collection to worship you. You receive 200 extra coins.

Pending/Action Required: Name sword.
Pending/Action Optional: Make purchases with money before departing. Current funds $245.

Everyone in the room could hear the people cheering outside. Without leaving his seat at the table the duke turned from the captain of the knights to the open window. The captain stood and looked down at the crowd. Gripping the stone sill he turned to the duke and told him the news of the sword's recovery. The duke waved away the information as if he were batting lazily at a fly.

"Come, sit Idida. Let us review the present situation." He said. "As a knight, as LEADER of my knights (rolled 6), I need this mission to succeed! Take the squad outside. It isn't much but I've seen you do more with less."

"If you pull this off, I'll double your holdings and see that your baron title is exchanged for a that of a Count or Marquis.

"Notice* Unlocked Class: Baron. Class bonus includes control of a squire. Squire functions same as additional player but with turns controlled by Baron. Squire is equipped with a dagger and leather pants.

Additional Class Bonus: General's armor (Leather with fur covered shoulders, block +1 to torso/abdomen)

Additional Class Bonus: Cape and signet ring bearing family crest

Additional Class Bonus: Horse

Additional Class Bonus: Longsword (currently being carried by squire - must take from him and equip before using)

Pending/Action required: Name squire
Pending/Action optional: Equip sword
Pending/Action optional: Purchase goods (current funds $225)

Just then a guard entered the room and announced a guest. "Presenting...Cadeon the Unflinching!" The duke and baron turned towards the visitor. The duke dismissed the baron then motioned for Cadeon to take a seat. "Ah, Cadeon, I've been expecting you." The duke could see why they called him the "Unflinching". The duke wiped his feigned excitement off of his face and slumped his shoulders. "Let me be Frank, Cadeon..." to which Cadeon replied "I thought your name Ted." They both stared at each other for a moment. "As I was saying Cadeon, I know why you are here and I know that your coin and swords have paid and bled my problems away on more than one occasion. However, I cannot simply knight every commoner that crosses my path. You do not possess the lineage in your blood." (rolled 3)

"However, I will tell you this. Just outside this tower is a group of soldiers leaving for Fort Gregor. Take it and I'll see that you get the knighthood you desire."

*Notice* Unlocked Class: Merchant. Class bonus includes retention of knight pay ($225).

Additional Class Bonus: Access to all levels of equipment through knight.

Pending/Error correction: Supplies purchased cost only $140. Available funds total $85.

Just as the two were sealing their pact another commotion could be heard outside the window. However, this time the clucking came not from the people but instead from what sounded like dozens of chickens. They stood up from their chairs and crowded into the window to see "Ferdinand the Foul." The fortune teller mouthed the word "Gonzo". He had a rope but it was clearly too heavy to bind them with. The sheer weight of the rope would prevent them from walking and cause them to be dragged instead. The Baron turned towards the blacksmith and said "What's a Gonzo?"

One by one the group gathered their things, said their goodbyes and walked together through the gate to the road and beyond. They traveled for half the day until the sun was high in the sky before one of them noticed something happening on the road ahead.

There, on an old dirt road winding through the rolling hill valleys, they could see a woman on the ground. They could not tell if she was injured or not but they could see that she was not moving.

instructions:

Everyone has an available turn to use on the above situation. Some people have additional issues that are optional/required as noted in their section. Those who have received a class but not gone shopping yet can do both their start town shopping turn and the current scenario turn in this round.
