Attention all Nerds: Text Based Adventure!

Cadeon
The soldiers are closing in on you. You drop your bow and grab your great axe. You attack soldier B (1-2h+1e) but miss by a wide margin! The attack throws you off-balance. You will suffer a penalty to all stats for the next exchange of aggression.

Remington charges the same soldier and (2) misses!

The soldier counter attacks and targets (1) Remington! His attack(2) misses! The soldier is also off balance and will suffer a similar stat penalty for the next round of fighting.

LockeZ
You sing a battle hymn amidst the chaos and (6) your song inspires all of your allies! They will all have a +1 bonus to stats for the next exchange.

RabitZ
You attempt to mount your horse (3+1)...he is still startled and you nearly miss but you are able to gain control and mount the horse! You rush soldier B who is off-balance from fighting Cadeon and (5+1-1h+2e) and land a blow squarely on his (4) abdomen with your morning star! The attack (3+1+1+2) caused massive internal bleeding and shattered soldier B's spinal cord. Soldier B is vomiting, paralyzed from the waist down, and is drifting out of consciousness.

SlaveChild attempts to wrap a tourniquet around Idida's wound with his cape (3+1) and manages to stop the bleeding! Idida will not roll for a mortality check this round but will not be able to fight the next round.

While attending the wound, SlaveChild's dog attacked the paralyzed soldier B. Unable to defend himself, the dog ripped at the soldier's throat. The soldier is dead.

With Soldier B dead, Ferdinand fires an arrow at soldier A instead and (4+1+1e) and hit him squarely (4+1) in the chest! The arrow goes through soldier A's chest and exits through his back! Soldier A is dead.

Soldier C attacks Cadeon by firing a crossbow bolt at him. The bolt (3-1p+1s-1h+2e) hits Cadeon in the (1) hand! The attack (2-1-1p+1s-1b+2d) barely connects and is deflected!

Soldier D attacks RabitZ by swinging his own morning star at RabitZ (2-1s-1h+1e) but misses spectacularly! Soldier D is off balance and will suffer a -1 stat penalty the next round.

Knight swings his great axe at SlaveChild (2-1s-2h+2e) but misses! SlaveChild counters by lunging at the knight with his dagger! (4+1s-1h-1e) The barely hits the knight (6) on the head but (3-2+1s-1b+2d) cuts the knight near his ear! (4) He is surprised and checks his head for bleeding instead of counter-attacking. He can see blood on his hand but it does not look like it is enough to make him bleed to death.

Wizards War Demo Version Review

Cool. If you do, let me know if you have better luck in battle than I did.

Catherine!

It looks pretty interesting. I don't have a current gen console to play it though.

Hello Fellow RPG Makers!

Hi, welcome to rmn.

if you were a final fantasy character, who would you be and why?

you sure you're not zell?

Attention all Nerds: Text Based Adventure!

You're exposed in the open and the enemy is aware of you Cadeon. They'll be gunning for you (and Idida and LockeZ).

RabitZ and Ferdinand are the only two that are out of view I think.

Attention all Nerds: Text Based Adventure!

You're still hidden.

Attention all Nerds: Text Based Adventure!

Welp, I guess LockeZ isn't going to post his command sooooo.....

Idida
You attempt to stand up and run towards the others (1) but trip and fall again! You're hurt but not seriously injured. You will suffer an evade penalty of -1 and a hit/dmg penalty of -1 for the next round of fighting.

Cadeon

You launch an arrow at the enemy (3,4) and you hit him! You have grazed one of the soldiers on the abdomen. The enemy soldier will suffer an all-stat penalty of -1 for the next round of fighting.

RabitZ
You try to mount your horse (2) but he is jumpy and resists. You turn and throw a dagger at the enemy (3,4) and you hit him! You have have grazed one of the soldiers on the head. The enemy will suffer an a -1 penalty to all stats and will skip the next round of fighting.

Ferdinand

You attempt to find a good hiding spot for cover (4) and succeed! You attempt to fire an arrow from your cover spot and (5) succeed! You have (4,4) hit one of the enemies in the abdomen. He is winded, bleeding, and in great pain. He will suffer a -1 penalty to all stats and will skip a round of fighting.

LockeZ
Unprepared for the enemy attack, LockeZ suffers a -1 penalty to all stats and will not counter strike any aggressive actions this round!

Soldier 2 attacks LockeZ (5-2h+1e) and stabs LockeZ's (1,2)hand with his spear! The strike (6-1+1d-2b) wounds LockeZ's hand! He will suffer a penalty of -1 to all stats next round and will be unable to attack the next round.

Knight looks at LockeZ and Idida and then attacks (5) Idida with his great axe! He swings his axe (3+5e-2h) connect squarely with Idida's arm! The attack (4+1+4d) severs Idida's arm! Idida is bleeding heavily. Idida will suffer a -1 penalty to all stats, will be unable to attack next turn, and will roll for a mortality check each round that the wound is not addressed.

-

Only two of the 4 enemies attacked because the other two were suffering a round skipping injury penalty. However, that penalty will now wear off. Additionally, the 3 on the ladder have come down and are joining the fray. Luckily, you seem to have caught the attention of the people in the fort who are now rallying and will launch arrows at the enemies to help you.

There's no "views this month" stat but with some quick math each of these got 10-20 thousand views in the past month.

Even if the counter is reset, they'll prob get another 10,000-20,000 views next month. Some might have a lot of discussion and buzz but not necessarily.

The points given for each thing is kind of messed up and shouldn't be based on rarity of the type of consumer contribution - view, comment, review, etc.

Picking on heroes realm again, that game had 16,000 views (16k points), 381 downloads (9k points). In March and April it got 4.5 star reviews. Those months would have another 9k points. It keeps getting reviewed even though its been around. I wouldn't be surprised if someone reviews it this month. Even though it didn't have any talk/comments this month it would prob be up there on the buzz-meter despite being older, featured, and isn't actually generating any fresh buzz. Again, it'd be like putting ff7 up. That game should be displayed but not permanently for buzz. Display it for quality or popularity sure but not for buzz. Unfortunately, just wiping won't prevent the same handful of games from getting stuck on the buzz like that.

I don't think reviews should be worth as much as they are in the proposed point system but they should never cause negative buzz. Btw, 10 reviews is mad buzz. I'd suggest displaying both, the double 5 star one for quality somewhere on the page and the 10 review one for buzz.

Concerning the game front-page download updates

author=narcodis
Well, agree to disagree. Having yet another system of "where people are posting comments" on the front page will not solve any of the problems with RMN's front page though. Like I said before, negative reviews receive comments not on the game itself, but simply on the content of the review. Why should a game receive more attention if someone is trying to address the author of the review? It's counter productive.

No it won't fix everything but it will help to promote games with interesting blogs, nice screens that disappear as soon as the next guy decides to post 4 images at once, etc. There are already some individual sections for writing, images, etc. but this would look at the big picture and promote games that actively utilize all the features of the site with content on a regular basis.

It could also encourage people to post positive/discourage people from posting negative comments on each because people will be giving buzz every time they comment. In a way, you would vote for a person to have buzz by making comments. If you don't want a game to receive buzz, you won't be posting comments.

I think that would cut down on the unnecessary negativity and if it doesn't then the people criticizing the games have only themselves to blame for making shitty games get front page exposure.
