Do you want to talk to your computers? (and consoles)

I am not a big fan of motion/waggle gaming or voice commands but I don't mind them too much when I can still use traditional controls. The Xbox 360 UI does this -- I can use my controller or remote to navigate the menus but I can also use the Kinect motion or voice controls. I see a lot of cool stuff that this technology can make possible but I also think it's still far too clunky to rely on as a primary interface for most things.

APB Reloaded

I was vaguely interested in the original launch of APB if only because I really dug Crackdown and it was made by the same dudes. I will probably give the F2P version a try when it releases but I am pretty sure the game won't be for me.

What games are you looking forward to?

Star Wars: The Old Republic (replaying KotOR to get into the mood)
Mass Effect 3 (haven't quite finished the 2nd one)
Gears of War 3 (haven't quite finished the 2nd one)

Believe it or not I was a little excited for Prey 2 until I discovered it had virtually nothing in common with the first game... at least that has been revealed yet. Yes, I am someone who actually enjoyed Prey.

What are you thinking about right now?

Thank god Firefly got no further than season one

I am pretty sure if Firefly lasted longer than one season it would have went downhill like every other sci-fi series does, so I agree with this sentiment.

rpgmaker.net 4th birthday contest

Just to clarify a few things:

- no restrictions on engine or graphics
- the 24 hour period will be for June 3rd central time zone
- the event period has now been switched to 4-hours per kentona's suggestion.
- people shouldn't back out because they can't make an "epic" or "worthwhile" game in the 4-hours. Most attempts are either end up being humorous or have some other gimmick. Develop them further after the deadline if you like.

rpgmaker.net 4th birthday contest

In honor of rpgmaker.net’s fourth birthday, and to celebrate our awesome users which have helped keep the sitet going, we are going to have an official site contest on June 3rd, 2011*. The contest will take the form of a 34-hour game making event in which users will have threefour consecutive hours to make a game and submit it to be judged. To make the contest more accessible to everyone the game can be created during any block of threefour hours on June 3rd as long as it gets submitted by midnight. Yes, this means we will be using the honor system – please don’t take the internets too seriously. There will be a theme for the contest that will be revealed at midnight on June 2nd, 2011. Further details regarding how to submit your games and the names of the judges will be solidified during the next two weeks.

All contestants will receive achievements and the winner will receive a monetary prize ($25). Losers will receive a complimentary t-shirt** and the sudden realization that they are forever alone on a Friday night. We may see what else we can scrounge up for participants.

Updates:

- no restrictions on engine or graphics
- the 24 hour period will be for June 3rd central time zone
- the event period has now been switched to 4-hours per kentona's suggestion.
- people shouldn't back out because they can't make an "epic" or "worthwhile" game in the 4-hours. Most attempts are either end up being humorous or have some other gimmick. Develop them further after the deadline if you like.

tl;dr We are having a 34-hour contest on June 3rd with a CASH MONEY prize.

* Yes, we realize rpgmaker.net officially launched on June 2nd, 2007, but we felt that having this on a weekend night may make the contest more accessible.

** Not really.

Bin Laden Defeated

I could debate you on the merits of U.S. monetary policy, but lets try to steer this topic back to bin Laden's death. No need to turn the topic into tinfoil central anymore than it already is.

The recession officially ended in June 2009?
I suppose the concept of recession can be treated subjectively, and the stock market did rally from April of 2009.

Actually it ended in June of 2009 by objective standards: two consecutive quarters of domestic GDP growth. This trend has been maintained, even if the percentages aren't anything to write to China about.

Chrome gave me this worrying message when navigating rmn.

Google's malicious content detector is fallible at best. I've had to clean up other sites that Google branded a heretic for really harmless or questionable reasons. I find their ability to do so a little unnerving.
