Ok, so I managed to do a near full runthrough of the game. I did it once, wrote down all the bugs, and I'm pretty sure I fixed them all. They were mostly wrong vars in key places. I fixed them and didn't get a chance to test them. Instead I went and tested the final bits which hadn't yet been tested, and fixed them up. It's SOOOOO fitting that when you finish the game and are supposed to see a normal game over screen, the game instead crashes and says "can't find game over" hahahahaha I lol'd at that, mostly due to exhaustion.
Suzy is gonna fix up the gamepage and unhide it so everyone can check that out. I hope it being hidden doesn't affect the download? Nope, looks like it can still be downloaded from this page.
Liberty, don't play our game first. Give me some time to write up a helper document for you. I will PM you in a bit.
I won't be around for at least a week(after that PM). I've been putting off so many irl things because of this event and I don't even want to be on my computer for a while.
Our game has a surprising amount of content, it's all walking and talking right now though, and this is like 10% of what it will be in the end.
*Also, I'm pretty happy to finally have my name appear in the final list of submissions for an event. I think this is a first!

Submitted to the event page with 4 minutes to spare!
I didn't get to fully test everything right up to the end. Even knowing where to go it takes me more than 20 minutes to do everything. I came across some last minute game breaking bugs and put in a fix, but the fix is untested xD and all the code I put in during this extension is untested. I don't have high hopes for that.
I promise there are 10 side quests and you can finish the main quest and get a game over. But you managing to get there is another story.
I will write up a little help file you will probably want to use while you are playing. I didn't get to do the in game quest log, so you will need a list of items to get for one quest. Plus some other pieces of information you might want.
But first, I need to get up out of my chair. I haven't really moved much in the last 5 hours x.x
FUCK another extension? *sits back down*

As per usual an extra hour has been gifted for those who need to do last minute adjustments and uploads.
If you have any gamepage issues, let me know and I'll check on them right away. Just... remember how I said to get those in early? Yeah... there's a reason for that guys. XD
Sadly, I didn't manage to finish my game, but I did get through a fair bit of it! I'll hopefully keep it up and see a release some time this year, even if it's for the Halloween event, where we aim to revive old games for finishing's sake.
For those still going? GO GO GO!
HAHAHA Liberty....this is like a gift from the gods. I fumbled at the 1 yard line. There is only 1 quest left to go! That Brady medallion really came in handy. I just need to go get some sugar and finalize this bad boy.
I've spent the last 2 days, at least 10 hours rushing these quests, and they are even stripped down versions of what they are supposed to be. Now I have time for the last one and some final testing.

I already have a gamepage. I didn't clearly specify, but I'm talking about submitting a download to the already approved gamepage. Does that even need to be approved? It's been so long since I actually submitted a download to gamepage I don't remember.
How are we doing? A survey to help us improve RMN

Either way, I think they are necessary additions for developers in varying degrees of obviousness. There were (and still are) plenty of people with absolutely no interest in making games themselves that are just as vital to the development process. Testers, reviewers, let's players, and even casual players all contribute by providing feedback for games in various ways. Removing even the casual forums would be a huge block for those types of people, which in turn would mean less feedback for developers, which I think goes directly against RMN's goal.
Obviously I'm not saying that forums are for players only and not devs, but that reason alone makes them worth keeping, in my opinion.
Thing is, if you were to remove the forums, it doesn't mean that kind of activity needs to stop. It would simply move to a better place, on the gamepage. Testers and reviewers and let's players don't NEED the forums to communicate with the devs. The gamepages are designed to cover all that. At the bottom of every game page...is a forum thread! The forums migrated a good portion of that discussion from the gamepages to the forums, which means less page views and activity on the gamepages. People spend their time browsing the forums instead of browsing the gamepages.
If someone wants a tester/review/LP, they can post a blog. Then those people looking for "work" can browse the blog area to find out the pulse of the community. Instead of browsing the forums, which is a shit show most of the time. You have to weed out all the bullshit and nonsense to find actual game content. Right now if a person made a blog asking for help, it would likely not get as much attention as posting in a forum topic asking for the same thing. That is because the active members are used to finding that kind thing in the forums.
As far as advertising and getting yourself known, it's no different for someone to find your gamepage as opposed to finding your post or topic among the many that are there. With gamepages, a person can search for specific things that interest them. They can search by engine or genre and get an instant visual idea of what the game is.
On the forums you might post in the screenshot thread and for a short period of time maybe 10+ people will see it, then it's lost into the obsurity of xxx amount of pages in the screenshot thread. Nobody is going to see my screenshot thread post from a year ago and find my game. But those same people would have a significantly higher chance of coming across my gamepage I submitted a year ago, followed up with seeing all the content I've ever posted to the site which is in the gamepage. Not scattered across the galaxy that is the forums.
The site is actually designed around the idea of gamepages. You can subscribe and get notices for all activity on the gamepages. You can fully customize it and have different areas for different kinds of content. That was the core design of RMN. The forums dilute that to a degree and additions have been made to the forums to make them act more like gamepages, in that you can subscribe and get notices for them too. And now we've got statuses, which have 0 use other than saying pointless crap, further diluting the gamepage activity.
And Corf is off his rocker. It's interesting how he's the only person(or at least one of the few) complaining and he's one of the few active members to have been banned. He's the Trump of RMN, in that he sees bias and issues everywhere when they don't really exist. "The misaos are rigged". Next thing he'll be suggesting we build a wall along the gamepage/forum border and get users to donate to pay for it.

As long as you have already uploaded the game to a gamepage, you can submit it through this page at any time (you will need to have a working game page and have the game uploaded there before you can submit it here).
Wait..what? If that's the case then the deadline isn't the actual deadline. You need to submit your game in advance of the deadline so that it has time to get accepted in the submissions queue, and then I can submit it to the event?
Why can't I just submit it to the event directly? That way I know I'm not going to miss the deadline. That's a pretty roundabout way of doing an event. In the SMBX events we could submit a direct file to the event page. That makes way more sense.

So, are there any actual rewards for this event?
Also, when we submit through this event page, is that instant? So as long as I click that submit button and add my game 5 minutes before the deadline, I'm safe?
Would still like answers to these questions.

haha GRS, that dog gif is so apt right now.
So, are there any actual rewards for this event? If I submit our game in it's current state and there are 0 quests finished but some dialogue and maps, would that be any different than actually submitting a game with 10 quests?
We're going to finish the game either way in the future, so at least that came out of the event. I'm just curious if we should make 10 of the simplest quests ever just to meet the goal to win a prize. It would save me a lot of stress.
