Featured Games

Plus, kentona recently went on at length in the Hyper magazine article about how old school games were what this community was supposed to be making and enjoying the most. Yet featuring a game from that demographic results in rage and disagreements?

Maybe this is just a poor choice of words, but I don't like the idea of someone telling me what I'm "supposed to be making". Old school games definitely inspire us but there are many negative things in those old games that should never be replicated(endless slow walk speed?). If anything we should be making new-old school games, but really we just use the tool to make whatever we have floating around in our brains. I think the rage comes from the fact that 2k(3) RTP graphics are way overplayed and RMN should be about moving forward and improving, not being stale and outdated. Most of us have played and enjoyed the old era, but if you are going to bring it back you should at least be innovative about it. At least that's how I see it. FoH isn't bad, but there is nothing outstanding about it. Maybe some people think a featured game should be something new, exciting, or just really well made. Not just average(or below average in some people's eyes).

[Story] Themes

haha Nice science ownage. Love this kind of debate.

I'm just curious, do you know where the story of your game will end? Do you have a final chapter and final boss in mind or do you plan on letting that evolve from the story as you make the game? How much of the story do you have already written out? and..how do you plan on writing the dialogue? What's your method of actually laying down the dialogue and story? i.e. Do you write it on paper/txtdoc? Let it flow as you program NPC's?...

This was the best thing I have ever seen. What is this show called? I must fucking watch it!

Just read the title. There, now you know the show :3

This looks weird... I can't quite put my finger on it. It's like you tried to cram too many different elevations and angles.

Super Mario World Ghost House levels, using SMBX.

Ghost World Mario.

Now that is something I would take part in. I don't watch horror flicks.

Super Desmo Bros.

RMN3 Bugs

I don't know if anybody reported this one, but in the latest post section if the title of the thread/game/thing is so long that it needs two lines, the bottom of this section goes past the line divider just below it. Just thought I'd throw it out there, it looks so sloppy.

I'm getting ANTI-Climbing paint if I try to click on anything Alter AILA. (Blogs, Images, the Page itself, etc..)

Actually it's only Alter AILA Genesis that gives the error.

Fable of Heroes I: Legendary Edition Review

Yeah, saying it's "old school" just doesn't cut it for me. Although I would just open it in the editor and fix it myself if I really wanted to play :)

Nice.

That being said, I don't know how to feel about the repeating fallen logs. The repetition in the trees is subtle because the greens blend together very nicely. The logs, however, stand out due to the high contrast created between the color of the log versus the green of the map. This makes it glaringly obvious that they are, in fact the same log.

I agree. It would look better if there were less logs and maybe if they appeared to be covered in moss or something, but I guess your just using what's in the chipset. Small edits go a long way. Why are so many dead logs in such a lush forest? It might be more believable if the only logs were around the campfire.

Looks good, for sure. One small detail that I think more people should look at is doing small edits on objects that appear multiple times. Like the bookcase. The fact that there is the same amount of books in the same formation with the same color all lined up takes away from the natural feel. A simple edit of changing the color of the books or just erasing a couple books would be the cherry on top of this nice looking house. Most people probably don't pay much attention to that, but to me it jumps out instantly.
