Spell/Grammar check this Tutorial please

Hey guys,

A while ago I've been helping out some guy with his tileset problem. Some months ago I got a request for making that information available through a tutorial. I finally got some time last week to write down the tutorial, but as suspected the thing got turned down because of spelling/grammar mistakes.

I managed to set my texteditor to English and took most of the spelling errors out, I think... (except for the ou = o issues, I like to use English English as much as possible).

As a Dutch citizen, not really used to writing big heaps of text, it's pretty hard for me to get the grammar mistakes out.

So could somebody please grammar(/spell) check this for me so I can submit it again, get it approved and can just remove this from my to-do-list.

Thank you in advance!

[Discussion] Making my own RPG Maker like editor

Make a search function and filter function.

I made a Flash version of RPG maker for my own insidious uses.
Care to elaborate about the search and filter? What exactly needs searching?
What comes to my mind would be the ability to find an event by name on a map, that could be useful.

More important: Variables!

(the ability to search them)

Xenomic, long time no spoken. I won't rephrase anything that has been said, but you would be wise to take the advice and actually try it.

Next to that: You are using the checkered floortiles wrong. You are using the shadow ones instead of the normal ones (some of them have more gray/black shading on them for the corners of the map.

Also, last time I made you some dungeon maps, I won't do that again, since I used that exact same tileset in two of my games. This could be interpret as shameless self advertisement, but it might help you a bit =): http://rpgmaker.net/games/4713/

These rooms are pretty small, but because of the amount of maps the overall building seems to be pretty big =).

Best RM Games With Only Default Resources?

In my opinion Crossbone (rm2k(3)) used the RTP very well =).

*very nice screenshot*

As always a very nice chipset and use of chipset. As for suggestions: I don't know how the chipset looks in bigger rooms, but I could imagen that it could get a bit repeative.

You might want to experiment a bit with door and bookshelve relief, just moving the doors and the bookcase just a view pixels (1-3) up so a little cavity appears. This will break down the straightness of walls in a subtile way =).

I love the stairs btw!

Choicemaking: Character Relationships

I guess it kind of depends on the overal concept of the game. If you are making a slow paced game with a developing worldstory you'd better make the characters interesting enough to keep on playing the game.

While if you made a really appealing world (take Zelda for example) you can make the player make more of their own choices.

You can also decide to only make the game mechanics costumizable, like skills/magic or something.

Like always it's just a matter of balancing things out.

What do you think is the most beautiful RPG Maker game?

Style wise I liked Sunset over Ihmdahl. Mapping/atmosphere wise I liked Ara Fell a lot.

There are also a bunch of games I liked some years ago, but the heavily use of panoramic backgrounds and picture effect actually threw away the whole SNES feel of the games. That kind of hocus pocus is better suited for XP and latter makers.

The Top RM Games Of All Time

I really don't know how to decide. But if anybody could take the time, please include these in your list, they were pretty good =).

Ara Fell
A Blurred Line
Desert Nightmare
Sunset over Imdahl
Make it Work
Vampire Dawn 2
Crossbone

Nothing pixelart/gamerelated over there though. Just some ugly drawnings and some scraptransformation.
