What does it mean for a game to be an RPG?

Technically you need to play a character in an RPG. However people think it involves stats and leveling up.
I feel like this discussion happens once a week and never has anything new added to it. This post is pretty much the epitome of how I feel about what the conversation turns into after talking endlessly in loops about definitions of words: "I have opinions"
How does this topic help us design better games? :(

Besides, there's really really not many elements that are in ALL rpg's. So far there has not been a single one mentioned that hasn't been rejected by another example.

the whole battle system argument being hard to remember or understand is pretty ridiculous though, unless you're going out of your way to not pay attention.

Ooooh, I really like yours, Blindmind... at a glance, it has a very "ruins" feel to it, because of the grass overgrowing the courtyard cobblestones and light/dark grass dappling :3

Ghost, that would be a pretty valid, postable Review. Unless you're of the school of thought that you need to play a game to the end, but "I can't get much further into this game" with that much explication is considerable.
I also like how you called Craze out and then agreed that it was pretty terrible. But I understand your point and agree with it - you can give negative feedback without talking down.
F-G, perhaps puking up frothing vitriolic sarcastic spittle on someone else's game page is not the best way to handle what you view as stupidity. Allow me to demonstrate how a human being can be an asshole but behave still better than you
