Historians' best estimates put the proportion of adult white male loyalists somewhere between 15 and 20 percent. Approximately half the colonists of European ancestry tried to avoid involvement in the struggle — some of them deliberate pacifists, others recent emigrants, and many more simple apolitical folk. The patriots received active support from perhaps 40 to 45 percent of the white populace, and at most no more than a bare majority.

Most of the populace just wanted to be left alone. To use that single mindset to "personify" an entire region would be unfair and squander a lot of view points and voices for the time, that can be explored much easier if the character was simply a separate entity.

Also, personifications would not work either way. Each of the colonies were so different from each other, with their own lifestyle, religion and laws.

I cannot personify all of that in a single person in a serious, historically accurate storyline. Again, I am not criticizing APH. It's a comedy, a gag. This is not.

Hm. I fixed it. Does it look better? I think I liked it at the end more.
