You have your own apartment???

Yes and no. Mostly no.

My roommate's parents are both surgeons, so they've got quite a bit of money. They decided to buy an apartment because property loses its value less quickly than money on the bank does. My roommate and I rent the place from his parents. (He only does in name so he can get a rent allowance. I think his parents give him back the rent in the form of a monthly gift.)

So I do live in an apartment, but it's not my apartment.

Also I love the fire extinguisher in your room.

Ohhh...that kind of setup is fairly common in the UK as well. Also, thanks for reminding me I need to invest my savings in something, otherwise my money is actually going to lose value ;(

The fire extinguisher isn't actually that prominent IRL - I just got very excited when I saw it amongst the available tiles.

IRL it's much more of a mess. The weird gizmos on the top-right signify various things I keep in that little storage section - mostly suitcases, old clothes and my electronic keyboard that I haven't played on in years.

Well yeah, but there are some fairly objective criteria that make me think my life would be much harder as a woman:

-> Ex-Muslim: Risk of violence if anyone in family finds out

-> Living alone: I would probably not have been able to move out for Uni and live the way I have for the past 7 years

-> Not planning on having kids: Enough said...

-> Sex before marriage: Would be screwed (hah) if anyone in my family found out

-> No rush to get married: At my age and current job status (stable/full-time), I'd be a shoe-in for arranged marriage. By the way, people like making the distinction between forced marriages and arranged marriages, and yes there is one in that with arranged marriage you can say yes OR no re: The prospective spouse. However the reality is with pressure from two entirely families to get married, it's often VERY difficult for the woman to say no without some sort of consequence.

And thanks Kylaila, appreciated, but I think I'm more worried for women in my position.
