Just a lizard who makes games sometimes, allegedly!
I'm a computer science student and thus learning how to code...though I also work full time to support myself so my time and energy are limited these days. Still, I hope to get back into gamedev at some point and maybe play a game or two every once and awhile. I'm wanting to maybe learn another engine such as Game Maker or Unity, though RPG's are still my main area of interest so RPG Maker will always have a place in my heart.

author=ChaosProductions link=topic=2302.msg40312#msg40312 date=1225154889Well, I just had the normal animation of the monster's attack for the blue mages abilities, and you learn new abilities by using the "Learn" ability in battle. If there is a blue magic ability in that particular group of monsters, then your blue ...cough... "beastmaster" learns that ability.
Just have a monster appear in his/her battle animations for his/her abilities.

How 'bout these?
Black Mage = Magician (Uses attack/status magic. Can only learn spells of earth, fire, and dark elements.)
White Mage = Priestess (Uses healing magic, but can also attack with wind, water, and light magic.)
Red Mage = Elementalist (Can attack, inflict status, and heal. Also user of all elements.)
Blue Mage= ? (Uses monster abilities, but I have no idea of a name for that...)
Black Mage = Magician (Uses attack/status magic. Can only learn spells of earth, fire, and dark elements.)

Haruspex: In ancient times, a guy who would read your fortune by checking out the entrails of whatever animal you killed and brought to him. Animal-gut reader, if you will.
Thaumaturge is just another word for Magician.
Oneiromancer means someone who interprets your dreams.
I like the Oneiromancer. Perhaps in another chapter of this series? :-\
