I have been fiddling with RPG Maker on and off for six or so years, and in becoming so accustomed to it, have been reluctant to learn to hard code anything. Despite that, I plan on going to school for Game Design, because I -love- making games (although I have yet to finish one, haha). I'm also pretty terrible at coming up with an interesting block of text about myself, so I am going to end this here! :D

I would like some modifications to a battle system I'm wanting to use, and I don't believe they are anything too fancy. A lot of small tweaks to make the interface more user friendly, intuitive, etc. If you are interested, hit me up and I'll provide you will the script I'm using and what modifications I want to it. :]

I've been thinking about it, but then I remembered one important thing: This game sucks. If you aren't one of the whiny preteens screaming "I DESERVE THAT EPIC!!!!! GIVE IT BACK YOU NINJA!", you're an elitist who won't let anyone into your group unless you meet their criteria... Not that I would know or anything. I never was one for raiding.


Let me point out that you're making the same foolish misconception that MANY gamers make by lumping together the game and the community. WoW is a great fucking game (if you disagree, I'm going to laugh and point at the 9 million subscriber count), but a lot of douchebags and little kids happen to play it. Find a decent group of people and play with them, it's not hard at all. My guild in WoW is a mature group of people, who aren't assholes and just want to have fun.

But to respond to the OP's question, yes, I am getting Cataclysm. I have already pre-ordered a copy and everything. I'm not super excited about it, especially since my proshit gear is going to be useless within the first few levels, but it looks like it'll be interesting. The change of game mechanics is my biggest concern, though it's no use to flip shit about that stuff till you actually play and experience it.

It's a JPEG image, it's quality is obviously going to be better in-game (which is the only "readable" problem you could possibly have). The HUD is fine.

I would, however, recommend that the timer's font be changed to match the fonts used in the HUD for uniformity. Also, you may want to change up your mapping a bit. I realize that your game doesn't use a traditional battle system, so you want to have open spaces, but the large amount of repetition makes the map bland.

The text for the "Enemy Data" and "Player Data" stands out a little much and is pretty unappealing. The "Data" at the end of each title should be removed, it's pretty implied. Also, I would make the text less obtrusive and more uniform. Currently, the player data title is larger than the enemy one and it's wonky. Finally, adopting fonts that work together would be a vast improvement. The modern look of most of the text clashes with the HP, CP, and ACT bar texts.

Just some ideas I think will improve the overall visual appeal and functionality of your battle system. Having the menu near the characters looks interesting and if used right, can help with player coordination of the party's moves.

But all joking aside, I know a game is bad if I'm not having any fun at all after wasting an hour of my life on it. If the game doesn't draw me in by that point, I'm done. With all due respect, this topic is very "meh" because of how SUPER subjective it is (beyond the obvious "shitty production values," etc.). A lot of games can be bad even to the majority of players, but a minority of players may still dig it, making it good.

Maybe if you defined what you mean by "bad" this discussion can actually go somewhere. Maybe.
