Not to nitpick the sprites all look great, and I like the direction you're going with the real images as a background, but it seems a little out of sync with the sprites. Sort of as if they were in front of a green screen, they don't seem to connect with the imagery

I like the idea of purchasing maps, that's something realistic missing from a lot of rpgs

I like the little mountains you added next to the range ~ I've never really thought about it before but it would make sense that they would taper off rather than just disappear after the main body of mountains. It really gives it a more natural look.
