I'm just some random guy who dabbled around in flash for a few years. Then I found out about RPG Maker, and I've been messing around with it. Hopefully I'll have a game up and running soon.

Would Real Life Music Be Distracting
post=117145post=117142Your game is now completely awesome.
...
Edit: Also, the music will have to sort have relevance as to what's going on in game. For instance, say your fighting a lightning based boss, Thunderstruck by AC/DC would play.
Thanks, exactly what I want people to feel when they play it!
Would Real Life Music Be Distracting

Depends on the game.
Any RPG, at all, whatsoever? Yeah, I'd probably be distracted, and mute it if I could still find the game playable.
Any commercial game you see out there today that uses licensed music you'd hear on the radio, then no (racing games, what have you).
Well the game itself isn't very serious, under just about everything there's a bit of sarcastic humor, mostly about RPG cliches and stuff.
And since most of you like this idea, what some bands you'd like to hear? If some of you told me what kind of bands you like, I'll try to find it and add it to the game.
Current List of Bands:
Beatles
Daft Punk
3 Inches Of Blood
Metallica
Led Zepplin
Motley Crue
AC/DC

Would Real Life Music Be Distracting
I'm just wondering because while I work on my current game, I listen to music. And a lot of the time, I think to myself that that current song would be great for the scene.
By real life music, I mean like music you'd commonly listen to, Beatles, Daft Punk and Styx. Stuff like that, in a game that doesn't take itself seriously to begin with, would it still be distracting to be hearing this?

'I love RPGs because I love to explore worlds' -- Do you really believe this?
Well I like exploring only in games made for that, like the Elder Scrolls series and Fallout3. When they reward me for exploring, I'm inclined to keep doing it. If walking around got me nowhere but a random battle, I wouldn't bother stepping outside the main regions.

RPG Maker VX Sideview Battle
I don't really understand what you mean, can be a little clearer? I think you said some thing about this being a public script, could you give me a link to where I can find it?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
RPG Maker VX Sideview Battle
I've seen this in a few VX games ( like Glacia http://rpgmaker.net/games/920/images/4248/ ), how would you go about doing this?
Making your own game
You'll need one of these engines:
