Alter A.I.L.A. Genesis Review

I have to disagree about the enemy damage output. Most enemies don't do one-hit-klll attacks, even in combination, so tossing that in there as a generalization is misleading. The few instances where they do pull off over-kills are often later in the game, which, depending on your love or disdain for a challenge, is a subjective issue.

Also, Sol, you barely went into any explanation of syncs, which is unforgivable.

Other than that, unfortunately, your review is spot on. T_T

(I kid, of course; I quite enjoyed it from an objective standpoint.)

Oh, one more thing! The relationship between Leon and Erin added a lot of depth to Leon's character to me. It's unusual to see a gal like her take any sort of interest in a guy like him, but they make a good rotation of protagonists.

Um, when you enter the facility and head to the left, before you reach the room with the water switch there should be a room full of water. You have to get to the bottom of that room by getting the water level down to 1 while on the 2nd level, then using the tube on the second level of that room to get to the bottom, and head directly to the right, hopping over a gap and into the room beyond, which is where her dark battle is located.

Alternatively, you can also lower the water level to its lowest, then somehow find a way to get to the underwater area, then swim until you surface in the room with the tube with a ledge on both sides; there are only two rooms like it in the dungeon.

Me, I hit the first water switch to the far left of the dungeon, then returned to that room, jumped down to the second level (landing right on top of the tube, which won't work as long as water is up to the second level), then headed left to another switch, hit that one to get the water down again, and returned to the tube and headed down. Just headed directly to the right from there and wiped the floor with that ho.

Just so everyone is aware, my score remains unchanged after playing the full game. My only issue is the lack of variety; no mini-games, basically. Almost everything revolves around fighting--which is fucking excellent anyway--so yeah. Half a point off.

I can't edit my review because of a site glitch or something...

Not to mention the constant usage of the word "anyways"--which is not only repetitious and, in some cases, uncharacteristic, but also wrong. It's "anyWAY", without the 's' at the end. It's okay for street-oriented characers to say it, but when a character like Hawk says "Oh, anywayyyyssss", with a lisp and a roll of his eyes, it's wrong, just wrong!

Okay, research has once again prevailed! I totally understand it now, a normal is a definition of the angle of a pixel as it pertains to light hitting it. What I want to know now is how you created and applied this normal map, and where (the texture or the 3D surface itself?) I'm doing 3D graphics right now, that's why I'm so curious. For homework I have to make a UV map onto my object, which is intensely boring work. The prof mentioned something about UV maps helping to normalize a texture, which made no sense to me at the time.

Help?

I saw the previous images and I think I get it now. A little. Normal maps are maps on top of another map which help define the lighting, right?

Saw the wiki already, but I didn't get it before.

Actually, one of those images in the wiki was pretty helpful--the one with the normal on top of the curved surface. I'm curious as to how you pulled off this "light defining" with every single pixel...

So a normal is basically what we call a tile in RM?

It's actually been pointed out by several characters that she's insanely powerful, ala the Sephiroth scenario.

What's a normal??

*Whew!* I'd hate to travel through somewhere like that. :P
