On Classical Plot Structure (Act 2, Part 1)
Classic or cliche? Meh.
These are good points to study and indoctrinate into one's storytelling style, but--I dunno if you mentioned this--it is ALWAYS good to mix up these events. Say, the character gets into no pinches whatsoever until scene 13 (which would be reversal 1), then everything starts going to shit with one pinch after another. Either way, good points; very detailed!
Also, if I could simplify this for people out there, all of these events fit into the old "hero's journey" archetype, which goes as follows:
Prologue: Intro
Act I: Departure
Act II - whatever: Trials
Final Act: Last Trial
Epilogue: Return
Even if no one gets the stuff up above, just follow that 5-part system of storytelling and you'll make it big in Hollywood in no time. I think.

Wow, what a boring place this would be it it was "the end" and everyone just shut up upon anyone saying anything.
The point is, there is no point in questioning the purpose of a review when the purpose is to generate discussion to begin with.

Tales of the Drunken Paladin: Version 3 Review
People have all their little pieces of advice on the subject, but it rarely amounts to anything. If a review is subjective, there will be those who disagree with it. If it is objective, there will be those who question it.
A review is a review. You play something and talk about it. Throw in a score if necessary. The end.

Don't weird me out with that birthday stuff, I just had mine like three weeks ago.
Speaking of which, would you like some velvet cake and apple cider? I'll mail it to you, along with myself, in a tiny little box. Just give me, your biggest fan, you address, phone number, email--L O L, I couldn't keep a straight face!
Do I sound giddy? I feel like I sound giddy.
