JACKALOTRUN'S PROFILE

Longtime fan of the gam creation but has never really gotten very far with it, you can find me making a rare "there isn't an SMBX event going on right now" appearance but I only truly exit hibernation for dem sweet Mairo bois

I'd like to imagine I'm a nice guy but emphasizing too much on it is self-indulgent and not stating as such is passive - I'd like to think of myself as an imply-ey guy

On the rare occasion I might actually be useful to you I'd be more than happy to help as long as it requires absolutely no codey or imagey stuff, seriously I have just enough brain cells to breath, I have no chance of picking up actually useful skills for game design

Backtracking: Yea or Nay?

author=halibabica
Well, it's different if the level was already designed to backtracked through. This is more a question of "if you go through a pipe, can you go back through the same pipe." Traditional Mario says NO.

If I was doing it, unless the level demands it, once you've gone through a pipe, that's it, you've told SMBX you are done with that area, I recently played through SMW2 and I don't remember any levels that even let you go back through a pipe that isn't required to beat the level

Also, I have no idea whether it's being discussed here or not (I don't think it is) but just in case, I'd have to give a big fat feck-off no to the levels not allowing you to move backwards whatsoever (can't remember what that options called where it's SMB1 style), you miss one thing by a bit of screen and YAAAY, whole level for you buddy

Holy melons! An Actual Download!?!

We'd have had it out sooner, but Solitayre's poking stick kept wearing out

I guess you'll have to tinker. I have no further advice at this time. I guess growing them up simultaneously isn't an option?

No, I might just make mushroom b smaller

Hmmm, so you had a sizable that moves above another sizable? That's an odd situation. I think SMBX prioritizes sizable layering based on the heights and placements of the sizables. This is just a guess, but maybe if you set up the sizables in relation to each other off-screen, they'll keep their same depth when the layers move?

This is a grey area for me and SMBX has shit all over my logic before, but that's the best I got for ya without trying on my own.

Oh no, I know why it's happening (which is exactly what you said)
But AnimeBryan (or me, depending on your perspective) wants a solution

Stupid mushroom thing? I didn't watch; what went wrong?

When smaller sizable mushroom 1 goes up over sizable mushroom 2, unlike how it normally works, you can't see sizable mushroom 2 over sizable mushroom 1

A Balance Question for Everyone

author=pyrodoom
Accidents could happen, and I wouldn't like to have to commit suicide in a level just to get the chance at a checkpoint if I don't want flower mode. Lives are easy enough to come by, but it just sucks to lose out on it.
However, to get a yoshi for it? That's nice. :3

Personally, unless I could find a way to keep my yoshi when I kill myself to not have Flower Mode on because I accidentally hit the switch, just keep the yoshi out of the block and allow the block to be hit multiple times, just in case.

The obvious answer is both Pyrodoom's suggestion and your own
You have to hit the block mutliple times to activate it
You are given a Yoshi to make up for the harder difficulty
Simples.

I've never been very good at hiding those freakin' dragon coins / flowers, I make the level and then realise I forgot them entirely
I can confirm I did test the level, and I still managed to miss the pre-mature platform thing... But, other than that awkward mushroom thing in the second half, there isn't anything that sticks out like a sore thumb (there's a pun in there I shall not exploit) so I'll make the simple platform fix later and work on flowers if I can think of places actually worth putting them
I really REALLY don't believe there is a fix for the stupid mushroom thing though :(

Ok, gon' comment as I watch AnimeBryan's test video

- Yes, I did in fact forget to move back Mario, I often make that mistake, my apologies
- Bloody pipes, my mistake - will fix
- This level is, and always was - a miniboss level
- Oops, will sort that faulty bucket for ya
- I have no idea with the paratroopa, may just be I forgot to move said troopa
- Seriously, I'm sure I sorted those freakin' buckets out, I'll sort that out I guess
- Erm, yes... you were supposed to... "pre-jump" it... Fair enough with flower 3, tis' alright when you know what's gonna happen... otherwise...
- Aw shit, forgot to let Yoshi up there... Will have to rethink that shit
- Oh for goodness... never thought of the bloody problem with the red propellor block dispenser... sort that too
- Headbutts wall repeatedly how did I get this so wrong? Miniboss bucket didn't show up??? Really??? I'll have a bloody look at it, cheers for the feedback

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!

Jesus, I completely forgot this was a thing, I'm a terrible dev and will probably never get round to doing this out of pure idiocy given I haven't even logged in for about a month I'll see what I can do

I really need to stop noticing shit like this (and replying) at stupid o'clock in the morning*

Now if you excuse me, Solitayre needs to yell at me for forgetting about CMS2 entirely again

Why am I ranting here? No idea. Why do I do this? No-one will ever know :D

*Come to think of it, its happen a good job, if it wasn't for my ridiculous late night procrastination, I could probably have gone a much longer time without signing in
