Thanks guys! I love costume and character designing. :D
And no, those two black strips aren't meant to resemble cat ears from the front. They're actually a feathery trim line. They're jutting forward on top of the hood (just slightly) as opposed to standing vertically.

I wouldn't call Cid a main character. He's more of a central character (like Terra's role in the 1st half of FF6). We're definitely going for an ensemble cast as opposed to a 'Cid and friends' direction.

Glad you like the maps coolopotomus!
I've been using a lot of real life/film references for the designs of our game world locations. It's a massive undertaking, but its been pretty fun so far.
And yeah, Reeve looks so much better than before. I kind of want to pretend the old versions never existed, hah.

RSD and the Big Giant Skills Recode
Yep! I am currently in the midst of reworking some of the maps for the NERV Palamecian Geofront right now.
Maps have been my focus for a while now... I need to go back to battlers soon.

Thanks orochii! I'm glad you like the scenery.
Some of the maps that you saw are still unfinished. I still need to add some extra doodads and fauna to some of them. With that being said however, I've never actually been an opponent of huge uncluttered maps.
My aim has always been for realistic looking proportions as opposed to rpg maker looking maps. I've never been a believer of the 3 tile rule. Some of my maps will look big and empty because well... real life places often look big and empty. Naturally, I'll try and strike a balance since this is a game and not a real life simulator.
I used to be a Dungeon Master for many D&D campaigns and that gave me a lot of world building experience. One thing I've never liked about video game RPGs is how everything is minimized/condensed for convenience/practicality's sake. Why does a capital city that houses a standing army of a couple thousand soldiers (not even counting the civilian populace) have less than 10 buildings?
Thankfully, the new Travel system that William and I will be using mitigates this issue.
On the topic of character movement... William and I *did* briefly discuss free movement. I suppose I would not be opposed to it, but we'd have to do some research. My initial concern was that it would lag the game like a ship anchor.
Anyhoo, as always, thanks for your support! I'm excited to show you more in the future! :)

FFD Concept Art 07 - Parker Gabbiani
More Bayonetta references... I've never played any of the Bayonetta games! :(
Maybe I should now so I can see how my designs keep getting referenced to her... (the glasses?)
~ ~ ~
There really isn't much a person can infer about a fictional character based on one image. Like William said, there are plenty of facets about Parker's character (and ALL of our characters for that matter) that influence my aesthetic choices when designing character costumes.
Here is the breakdown of how Parker came to be:
1. When I was first hired by William (and before I had the luxury of creating completely original designs), I was given this:
I was told that this person was the owner of the Gold Saucer, which in our game world is more or less equivalent to the FF7 counterpart (and then some!). I was also informed that this character was a Gambler.
So, using this sprite as a base... I gave Parker...
-her glasses
-her fur trim
-her hair color
2. During that time, I did an overall assessment of the female character cast.
I had a quirky teenager, a kid (a trope of her own), an endearing sister type, a strong, stoic and self-reliant warrior and a bratty diva. What was missing, I asked myself?
An adult type femme fatale who could also fill that confident 'oneesan' role.
3. The costume came to be after I determined what Parker's background and personality was. Being the wealthiest person in the world as well as the leader of the world's largest private army makes the character very... larger than life. Taking that into account as well as her Gold Saucer background made opt for a Vegas Showgirl themed outfit that loosely adhered to... guess what?
4. But wait! Where did the hat come from?
Well... if you look at the old sprite... Parker had a scholar/graduation cap. Capitalizing on the Vegas theme, I opted to turn it into my version of stage magician's hat!
https://dubaiunveiled.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/magicians-assistant.jpg
5. I then finalized her outfit by...
-Adding more indicators of her wealth (gems, gold trim, etc).
-Giving her cards for her weapon (Final Trump)

As a character designer, I make a conscious effort NOT to be frivolous in my design. I'll admit, that original Vicks design waaaay back in the day was over the top, but it was actually because I literally forgot to add her undergarments before I sent it off for submission (any artist will agree that drawing is often done in layers... chars start naked, and then you add onto their garmets piece by piece). That was my bad.
What I don't care for is ensuring my designs are done in way that will appeal to the lowest common denominator. There's no way I'll be able to please everyone. My primary goal is to ensure that the costumes look appropriate for the character based on their role, their background and their personality; information that no one other William and I are privy to. Which is why when I look at other character designs, I only look at it through the filter of clothing, accessories, color choices and how the aesthetics all blend together. Anything else like utility or psychology (anything that requires context) is not included in my assessment. It's all relative to the game world that the character is from anyway... and viewpoints are always subjective.
And as far as the design being overly sexy to the point of being too racy... I don't think it's any more different from Paine (up above), or...

Or this?
(That last one is a bit too much for me... simply because I find the design uninspiring... even without context)
Anyhoo... thanks all for your constructive feedback! :)

@Avee Great job to you too for creating such awesome sprites! This video wouldn't have been the same without your custom work! :D
@Noel
I didn't really realize that the maps have a PSX vibe, but now that you mention it... Haha, I actually kind of like that. Sorry you don't like the cliffs. :(
This is what they look like from far away. I modeled them after the Dorset Cliffs (google it!) :D
A big shout out needs to go to William for signing us up for RSD and doing all of the grunt work in assembling this video. That awesome airship battle scene was all due to his scripting/eventing mastery.
