Returning from RMVX Death

It has been a very long time since I have been on this website or hosted any games on it. Last message I left was sometime back in 2011, so obviously I have been on a lengthy hiatus. I apologize, but I am aiming to begin fresh and new with nothing tying me down or back due to what I previously had so all my previous games have been deleted from the site.

I will leave nothing on this website, except for very small things - updates every great once in a blue moon, etc. - and make no promises to anyone.

Please refer to the game titled Eriscadia for any further information.

Magic and Mana -- To use MP Pot, or not to use MP Pot; which one?

Hey guys, had a very interesting conversation going on here: http://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/4401/ when the subject of MP Pots and mage''s came about.
So, my question to you is this:
Do you prefer to use MP potions in your game or would you prefer to not use MP pots in your game?
And if you did, would you make them rare or would you have them available whenever the player wanted them?
Or, like a lot of games these days I've noticed, would you just prefer to stick with the good old Inn system?

Making Fourteen Unique Characters

Hmm... Interesting.

How did you find rpgmaker.net and why did you stick around?

I went out looking for good help with the rmvx scripting system and went through probably a good 4 or 5 sites before I found rmn and was amazed at how helpful everyone had been and decided to stay.

No plans on leaving for a very, very long time. :)
(Sry folks, your stuck with me... lol) ;)

Making Fourteen Unique Characters

I see... So someone that can dish out their power real fast, but doesn't deal a lot of damage due to this factor, but also in the end can end up without out MP and therefore labeling them as useless in a sense until they gain it back. Thus the "Uses renewable resources" -- MP potions or something -- am I correct?

Mage/Nuker (Uses renewable resources to generate large amounts of damage)
Good Lord, I feel horrible for asking, but can someone PLEEEEASE explaine to me what a Mage/Nuker is??? I don't get it...

Which version?

Very true.. :)

Which version?

Umm... Just a question here... Why not download all of them and make the exact same sampler game in them and see which one handled the creation and playability better...? I would, but, heck with it, I can barely even get my own game going! lol

(XP is probably better btw, I'm using VX just because it was the only one I could find at the time and was desperate to get back into the rm world -- been out of it for nearly 3 years now. Will tell you hwo I feel about it once I've gotten further with the creation of my game; btw, the chipset thing in VX sucks like you can not believe!)

EDIT:
Sorry, forgot to add: It could be kind of like an event for the site, you know? Just a suggestion, mind you.

Creating An Automatic Backup For Your Projects (Windows)

Ok, whenever I did this and looked in my Log.txt file, I got this in there:

Backing Up your Game Now...

Does it mean that it did not copy anything or there was nothing to copy?
Not sure I understand...

The 9 things that I have learned from the RMNCasts

Right, my main thought was to just simply have a minute or two of the history and then it brings you to the history of the final boss they had to defeat (which in turn introduces the player to the evil and threat of the game allowing you to realize just how deadly it really is) and then give away a little something to allow you to realize later in the game "Oh! Hey, he's related to what's-his-butt from the opening movie!", you see what I'm saying. Thanks again guys! You cleared something up for me that I had been struggling with for a while now. :)

If you absolutely have to give history right up front, then make the intro playable too! Maybe there was a great war a long time ago. Instead of just telling the player about it throw them into the game as a soldier who was participating in it and sees the events firsthand. Maybe there was a group of heroes who took down some evil overlord long ago. Let the player take control of those epic heroes as they blast him to dust. The whole point of gaming is that everything is a lot more fun when you're in control of the most awesome moments, rather than just watching everything unfold.

0.o Oh... my... word... I would of NEVER thought of this!! I have a WHOLE new idea for the beginning of my game now! Oh thank you thank you thank you! :D (Credits to you for it btw... )

Also, take a careful consideration of "what does the character know and what does the player NEED to know to understand anything?", which information that is interesting and immersive but still not ENTIRELY important for the plot (this can be distributed through regular npc dialouges or random books w/e) and finally, how the preceeding (present or future if you do that) events affect the actual plot.

Wow, thank you! Great idea... There will be plenty of old books to be found in my game, I suppose I could really just add it in there, and then at that point give the player the option to read them if he/she want's to.

Thank you everyone for you kind comments and assistance on this matter, you have NO idea how much it really helped! :) My game is going to have to be pushed back to a later release date now... -.- Lol, oh well... :)

Thanks again!
