Make sure to brush up on your dad jokes. The best part about being a dad is completely embarrassing your son in front of all his friends with your super lame jokes!

I seem to recall pointing out to Kentona about two years ago that he makes the best dad jokes.

RMN3 Bugs

I found this in the corner:

Epic Mickey - Exclusive Wii steampunk action game by the maker of Deus Ex and Thief!

Hahah this is like exactly the same thing as Kingdom Hearts. Also because it is Warren Spector it will have RPG elements so it is definitely the exact same thing as Kingdom Hearts. But this looks maybe more interesting for some reason? Maybe because they took it further?

G-20 Summit.

Wow that's pretty amazing.

But yeah I think a lot of youth protesters are the kinds of people you find at rallies at colleges that can't always tell you what the protest is. But, they saw a group of screaming 19-year olds holding signs and thought they would fight the power.

The importance of Music in a game

Game music is something that I have weird attitudes towards.

Some of my favorite music is video game music. A few games have exceptional soundtracks - Xenosaga III, Mega Man 2, Earthbound, Unlimited Saga, Romancing SaGa (PS2). This is the music that changed my life.

But in general I really hate video game music. Most of it is really bad. I play most games with the music turned off.

I also write music and like to write soundtracks for games and movies. I'd love to quit my job and do it for a living, but I like my job so I don't think I will quit it.

So I can't really provide much to this conversation, but I thought I would share my feelings!

Oversexualization of Females in Games

Okay so I was going to buy Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and I didn't because of this:

I just couldn't really take the game seriously. It's not even sexy . . . it's just sort of weird and unnecessary.

EDIT: I also read that if you shake the controller, her boobs jiggle.

What are you currently reading?

On Writing was actually really really good.

The Stranger by Albert Camus, and A Wild Sheep Chase by Haruki Murakami on audiobook, which I listen to whenever I drive. My books-finished-per-year rate should increase two fold by this method!

I listen to audiobooks all the time. I don't really read books in print anymore. I spend my commute listening to books all the time, so . . . I never want to read them when I get home from work.

PSP - Why didn't I buy this earlier?

Sony products tend to stop working/fall apart if you breathe on them. You are most likely right.

Yeah I drop my PSP almost every day. It's fairly sturdy. But it definitely doesn't *feel* as sturdy as a Nintendo handheld - you get the impression you need to be careful with it.

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

I am playing Persona right now - PSP remake. It's pretty good. It is not the game I love so much, but its style. It's kind of creepy. Demon negotiations are kind of surreal, which I like a lot - even though it is frustrating that I can't really control the results or interpret feedback very well.

Okay I just finished the first level of Killer7. This game is freakin amazing now.

I didn't like Killer 7 very much. I got it when it first came out. It just wasn't really that fun, even though it was pretty stylish. I think that a Wii re-release might be a huge hit.

The Tiamat Sacrament OST

I use Cakewalk SONAR 8. I prefer its format for handling the piano roll etc . . . I almost never edit using a score because I feel like it is suffocating. SO many extra clicks to do everything. I input every note using either an 81-key MIDI keyboard or KORG PadKontrol.

My primary libraries are: Garritan Personal Orchestra (phasing this one out), Goliath, EW Symphonic Orchestra, Storm Drum, and Symphonic Choirs (sometimes - this one was a huge waste of fucking money). I also make extensive use of freeware VSTs for analog synths, drum samples, etc. I use the built-in plugins in Cakewalk for lots of things too (drum machines etc).
