Nomic: game thread

We all have at least 10 to give. I give mine to Shinan.

...why am I getting so many? I feel loved :)

Note that with the change in the rule before voting started, those with high RMN makerscore don't get to keep theirs. Everyone just chooses a player to give theirs to.

I think you still have a problem with the orphan pixels you're using to create the shadows on the inside of the neck. Your changes to his right cheek are a big improvement though.

The dithering all over seems like too much as well. I'm looking at the shirt and the dithering on his right shoulder (HIS right) give a little bit of depth there but imply that the rest of the shirt is completely flat.

I still have my reservations but it should be weird if nothing else. Yea.

Well it's better, and I for some reason I thought it was 5 Makerscore -> 1 point, 1 point -> Makerscore, and since that's NOT the case, it's not so bad with 303. But rule 303 only applies to rule changes, so it would still be a loophole. Even if it didn't, how would needing to say "Nomic" give other players a chance to react anyway? But since the conversion rate is pretty bad, at least the loophole isn't as bad as I thought it was.

I think version 4 definitely loses a lot of depth. But it wouldn't hurt to cut back a bit on the sinews and dithering and maybe pull back the shadows, but not that much. Something between 1 and 3 I'd say, and definitely fix those single darker pixels in the middle of versions 3 and 4.

I am also perplexed by the ambiguity. For one thing we have at least one player for whom the RMN Makerscore is zero, so your whole "non-zero integer" thing doesn't make sense. I was hoping it wouldn't have anything to do with RMN Makerscore but if it doesn't there's no way to calculate a player's initial amount.

Anyway with just this rule, I see two things happening:

1. Players will get a one-time boost to their score with some players getting more than others and those same players having extra influence over other players, but only for the one turn.
2. Rule 303 will be rendered nearly useless as a player can easily store points as Makerscore, and converting Makerscore back into points to win the game is not a condition for which the player would have to say "Nomic".

Is this what you were trying to accomplish? Or did you have something else in mind? I was excited about your grand hyped plans but now I'm a little disappointed.

...nevermind, you are right. It just removes the possibility for the proposing player to get any points for a failed proposal. However since it already has the votes to pass, I'll just leave my vote as it is.

Nomic: game thread

I did not misunderstand. I was talking solely about the part you have no ninja-edited into rule 202, the part where the proposing player gets votes for yea votes when even when the proposal fails. But I did a double take reading it again myself because I said "players" when I meant "proposing players" so it's not your fault Trihan.

As the amendment currently stands it reverses the ninja edit. I do not want the ambiguity that may prevent the proposing player from getting points now that it's been discovered. Therefore I vote NAY at this time.

Nomic: game thread

Huh. I just reread rule 202 and it doesn't actually say that those points are given to the player who made the proposal? I don't want to invoke judgement or anything, and I'm fine with how the points have been awarded so far, but...

Anyway I support this proposal and it would solve the above issue anyway. Of course it would also mean that players no longer get points for yea votes when the proposal fails. I kind of like that little mechanic that softens the blow of losing. Perhaps the points should be awarded even if the proposal fails?

Trihan, I am excited for what you have planned. Whatever it is you deviant you.
