not sure about a lantern event. I am saying in the beginning when you are in the cave and you go to sleep you wake up and it constantly loops and the game doesnt continue.

Yep! That's it.
There's a lantern next to it. Using the lantern means shut it off, and going to sleep. It was a fix for the lack of a "Quit game" option.

Alas, I realized later that, when I open the savescreen, it saves right inside the current event being played. Loading this gamesave makes RM loading the same event, at the same exact position in the event page. Since this event goes eventually back to the title-screen, it creates a gamesave that loops again and again to the title-screen.

Funny thing, when I test it in the editor player, the gamesave works ok if I close the game test windows, then launch a new test session. That's why I didn't notice it the first times, all was working as intended in the game-test feature.

The only way I found to circumvent it was to disable the autosave feature when exiting the game. Not really a good thing to do, user-friendly wise. But still better than breaking a gamesave.

Life Precious at FLIP 2013, amateur videogame contest!

How did you get stuck in the mines?
If you get out of track, the game should send you back at the last entry point of the cart.

The lantern bug?
Fixed it in the 1.1.3 version. The way VX handles saving process (save the point in the event the save is made) seems different the way XP does (save only the current map and switches).
Just don't use that feature in the 1.1.2. :p

I hoped it would go unnoticed, since the possibility to quit the game with the lantern wasn't documented ingame.

Media Madness Month

An interesting event to offer (and to participate in). I bet other websites will get some inspiration from it to bolster their reviews' rate.

By the way, you can crossout Shadow and Sixth Entry (rmweb) from the list, as I reviewed them as Princess Lucia (rmweb) a few days ago.

The winners of french national contest !!

They are really nice games!
But... are they translated?

Quoting the Great Sheldon: "I don't think so."

That's sad, especially for Asylopole, which could gain a lot more fame with a less frenchified textuality.

Oh, well. Maybe in a not so distant future...

No, it means you need to apply the font patch and you're missing the real fonts. You can nab it from many places, one of which is here http://givemebeer.tk/rm2k_fp_001.exe

Everytime I run into this issue with WinXP, a change in the cleartype setting has resolved it.
Anyway, I won't use any patch or add fonts, for two reasons:

1 - it's up to the author to implement all solutions and workarounds within the game. One click and it works. Any other manipulation or tweak is a waste of player's time. Either the game is playable from the get-go, or it isn't.

2 - I need a clean PC (as much as a PC could be). I won't mess with adding fonts here, and then have to add it to every PC I might use in the future because, maybe, I will use this very font for a specific project, and it will reveal itself vital to finish it on another computer (which happens, strangely, to be incompatible for this very font for whatever reason)

I am surprised you seriously did not find it that funny,...

I'm ok with insults and swears. But I only found it easy and predictable in this game. Letting of some steam is fine. Designing a character to be offensive is ok. But turning every situtation into a rape-fest, rocketting every bit of common sense out of the window... no thanks. Not my cup of tea.

I had forgotten about how Wolfie warns you about him being too strong warrior before he joins your party, that's so random that I found it hilarious and left it entirely as it was just because.

That's what I was talking: you can do better comedy without turning each women into a braindead sex-slave.

You also did never even mention this game had programmed feature like Shadow's regeneration power,

I've seen the status, but it never saved my ass against the dragon. All other fights were easy enough, so I never counted on it to win. In my eyes, it was a useless mechanic, mostly here to enforce the fact the hero was immortal.

Overall, I don't think it was that bad especially considering I did it before there was even an english helpfile and I had to literally learn how to make things with the program by pressing a button and then seeing what command does.

Yep. I took that into account for my review's score.
For today standards, it's a weak game. But back in those days, it was more... worthy.

EDIT:
BTW, the title of this review is a pun on the usual (im)mature content warnings. ;)

That text in the screens look barely legible. I'm surprised you didn't give this a 1, why?

Common issue with old RM on WinXP and next: text "smoother" makes dialog boxes glarbled. Takes a little time to get used to it.
There's a way to correct it in Windows screenpanel, but I was lazy.

BTW, the score is given regarding the age of the project, the fact it's a first project and the "surprise" it manages to get better along the play.

If it was a 20XX third project, a 1 star would have be mandatory. :p

Media Madness Month

Review for Shadow.

Still pending, mind you...

EDIT : accepted!

Media Madness Month

Review for Princess Lucia.

Not really a game, more a technical demo.

Only hosted on RMweb... How do I post it here? 8|
