Look, if she's supposed to 'function normally in society' and appear to everyone except the player as a normal girl, shouldn't her name be normal as well? I dunno about you, but a name like Metal Word Chain is not going to fool anyone.
author=Kevincalanor
I kind of agree but kind of don't too xD
Metal wordchain, don't necessary means that she's made of metal, it can have a whole array of figurative meanings that will keep people lost in thought for a while.
But... My first impression is that she will be the cute type, and a metal meaning name would fit more to someone... hard (-5pts for me too x3) like Mayu or Eliza.
Ps. Kinzoku can also mean "Continuous service"
Many thanks. I was not aware of the weight of literal interpretations of names and will give this, and the project as a whole, some more thought. With both naming suggestions so far I was attempting to achieve a more classic sci-fi quality with it, with a twist of irony, and hopefully humor. 'Mai Waifu' was alluding to the companion side of her line, (and is officially scrapped) while still maintaining a somewhat normal name. 'Shiritori Kinzoku' is a more veiled attempt at this. Her name would be the unreleased product, with her 'parents' the corporation behind her development.
We're from a generation of bad naming, with knowing hippie parents naming their kids 'Rivers', 'Leaves', 'Soda' and 'Lolli' (both last name Popp, btw). Lest we forget "North West". These are all Western examples, of course. I have no Asian examples, their may be a reason to that, due to the Japanese Ministry of Justice's rules on appropriate use of names. So...yeah. Instant culture shock.

So, my wiki-walking for an appropriate replacement name gave me this:
ID 59 = Kinzoku Shiritori
Kinzoku being the family name, as she is made of inorganic components and not a human, and Shiritori is a simple children's word game that mimics the input and output of computer programming. An appropriate nickname would be 'Shiri', dangerously close to 'Siri'.
What do you think, sirs?

Well, "Mai Waifu" is the Japanese cognate of "my wife", and is often used by fanboys/otaku to refer to their favorite VN/anime/manga/hentai/whatever character. It's often seen as a bit creepy, and can have sexual overtones. I would strongly advise against using that as a character name, robot or no.
I'm cool with changing it. I wasn't married to the name... (-5 for pun usage.)
Any suggestions, anyone? Something along the lines of something technical I'm thinking... I'm pretty bad at Japanese naming, so I appreciate the help.

Anywho, before I would accept it, how about providing a bit of information about this character, outside of her name? You don't have to tell us everything, but, a sample tachie, and some kind of description of her main personality traits would be nice.
Saying that, I am vaguely aware of what a "waifu" is, and I could attempt to imagine how relevant that concept is in her story, but, it's merely a guess.
I apologize, it's true you would need some more info, because I, too, would need some as well.
Mai Waifu is the name given to an experimental line of android human companions built by the same scientist who developed the janitor robot. He is secretly sending this Mai out on her own to see if she can function by herself in a controlled public setting like a school. She is programmed to function like any schoolgirl in such a setting, and interact normally and pleasantly with teachers and students. The player first sees 'her' arrive at school and is the first person she meets, aside from her 'father', the scientist, who is occasionally observed watching her through binoculars (and later, while on dates). Much like the janitor robot, Mai does occasionally malfunction, and exhibits things from wild mood swings to inactivity. One could say Mai is experiencing humanity through the malfunctions...
The player is the only person to know his new friend isn't human. Due to her friendly disposition toward the player, Miki and Keika might see him winning the bet having found a girlfriend in the pretty new exchange student. However the player would know this is in clear violation of the 'Keika Addendum', even if everyone else thinks the new girl is strange.
I think there is much potential for comedy here, a good practice for me as I want to start writing hard scifi comedy. The call-back (or foreshadowing) of the the scientist I like, too, and if this works I might write the Chocolate Lady's Daughter or some other character tying into some of the extra characters. "Android human companion" might lead some to think "sex robot", and I do NOT want that to be the case, even if the name might imply something akin to that. In actuality, I stole the name from another game, and would be open to suggestion as to another, more appropriate name.
And the tachie example...

I am working on a character to submit, to whom shall I request a character ID number? Any available number is fine. Character's name, Waifu Mai.
Also, is there an upper limit to the BGM length? I noticed when I put a longer MP3 (longer than 3 minutes) in place of another, the longer MP3 did not play in-game, but when I shortened it down to under 2 minutes it played just fine. I noticed this when messing around with 21 Ways tracks, the only one tested.

While I was going thru the prologue again, I noticed a minor 'who's talking here?' moment that I hadn't caught. Since you are asking for things to fix, I thought I'd let you know.
The line, toward the end of the first scene:
<player> (blue player words)
Oh. Keika's sending me a message on my phone... Probably to ask to meet me half-way. If I don't it'll be another 10 minutes.
Should be:
Miki (red-brown girl words)

author=Kevincalanorauthor=MarrendLol, that's quite direct :p
Darigaaz, "Onamae Ferdinand" sounds terrible. "Onamae Kazuhiko", however, sounds slightly more legitimate.
However, Onamae Kazuhiko indeed sounds better, Ferdinand stand out too much interchange student or something alike, also some new chars currently use <player>'s old name "Ferdinand as a gag now. ^^
"Kazuhiko" it is, then. Yes, it sounds much better. And I think I will use "Ferdinand" as a bad nickname the characters could use to pester him with. As in, 'he's like a big, gentle, lonely bull, so we called him Ferdinand.' Might have caught him smelling flowers once. +5 Soul.

Hey, pegaso, I'm thinking something like that would be more appropriate as a media submission rather than something buried in the custom content threads. I dunno. I guess it's ultimately your call.
*Edit: If you do go the media submission route, I'd say it could be construed as "fan art", but, "miscellaneous" might be an appropriate category too.
Sounds good, I will keep it in mind when the time arrives. And, yes, it is fan art ultimately, an act of love. I will make sure that every page has a link to the game's home page, as well, and writing credit where credit is due.

-who, when thinking on what Ferdinand's family name should be, found Onamae, Japanese for 'name', and thought it strangely appropriate...

Yup, I posted that sketch of <player> ago (It's just a outline), I just followed the avatar you have in game on the dice phase.
About the Height, I think that he would be kinda average, taller than the girls but slightly smaller than Takuya.
Eliza Yamisaki is currently in beta version because her developer have weirdo motivation shortages on the last steps, he'll get a surge eventually and finish it up. .-.
On the good side the route is pratically complete (few tweaks and custom ending predicted for the release ver.) There's a DL link on the first page of this thread. ^^
Edit: Decideddon't ask why,to dig deeper into Height stuff, and ended coming up with this:
(Oh crap, since when Eliza got that big? She was supposed to have 152cm .-.)
- 1,5 adds the 1/3 of the char that it's outside the screen (below the imaginary 2,66666... mark)
- I came up with this constant (4,1625) considering Riho's height as 156cm, same as Hirasawa Yui from K-ON!
- Screen border (480px) equals to 172,97cm.
The height chart is very helpful, and thanks for re-posting your image of 'guy'. (It's clear I will have to step up my game here ^^;;) I went with the old classic 'heads tall' method for my first character sheet for height management. Ferdinand is 6 heads, I set Tasuya at 5 1/2 (considering he refers to Ferdinand as 'big guy' which would denote he being slightly smaller) and set Shihoko at 5 1/2 as well, and more developed than the other girls. At 5 heads tall are Miki and Keika, and 4 1/2 for Akari (which should be taller at 5 heads now that I look at it.)
I will set up some space on Smackjeeves for it and let you know when I have some stuff ready to look at. I have my previous graphic novel, Sync, here as well. A passable first cover is sketched out, with Ferd being chased by the sicknesses down the gameboard, an angry SD of Miki and a giggling SD of Keika in the background. Heartache 101 #1, The Challenge!

It's cool to see Takuya now but I do see your 'two steps forward' problem. It's an image perspective issue. A fix would be to add as much to his legs as the girl beside him, allowing you to see the other hand completely. (Eliza? Is she new? I didn't find her in the Tachie or playthru yet...) The problem to that is the top of his head being cut off, and the image program you are using may not allow for that anyway. If you shrunk him down, his head would be smaller than the girl's. It's all a bit of an optical illusion. Of course, if it is consistent with the other males in the game, then it would just be one of those strange game things and not really a big deal (to me).
I'm not suggesting to make a Tachie for Ferdinand or make him visible, since he is our POV, but, what do you think he looks like? I imagine a larger boy, not fat, but tall (his apparent nickname is 'big guy' after all), with almost permanent messy brown hair. Am I far off? (I'm planning some manga pages, is why.)
Also, did you know you've in TV Tropes?
