Quite true. I remember having to translate old English to modern English in University using a friggin' text book, and it was awful. Gave me the right interpretation skills though.

Now that I'm using various new kinds of technology to do it, it's about 500x faster, and surprisingly a whole lot easier overall as well.

All those Mandarin classes and only "Ni hao ma?" was all I could remember, those taiwanese shows would be "Ni gan ma?" >_>

Right, if you know both languages well enough, it's fun to see how everything has to be transposed, how the spirit of one language is different from that of another, fun, but tough!
