What's your method of dealing with unusually bothersome...issues?
What's your method of dealing with unusually bothersome...issues?
Well, I agree with Kloe, and I definitely disagree with the idea that the under-30 generation (we can say millennials, we're all adults here) has had easy lives compared to those before them. It doesn't do well to ignore failing economies and changing societies, and it's inane to pretend that things were better in the past (they weren't). The world is making progress.
In no way would I say millennials are less grateful, but I would say that they have higher standards. I don't consider that a bad thing in any way, although obviously you have to find a way to balance future goals with daily realism.
There's a difference between "hatred" and "not settling". There are cases of people taking things too far, but the overall increase in societal awareness is very much a good thing.
EDIT: If there's one thing I've learned about elections and getting attention, it's that doomsaying works. If you want to sell your party or your ideals, you have to pretend that we're always on the verge of crisis. We can't let this blind us from the improvements and positive change that we've made.

Yuuuup, it's good to be aware of what's going on, but like, you don't have to be hyperaware, especially when it's frequently nothing new and just stress-inducing.

I'd argue that LockeZ is wrong about the effects of the election & how much younger people care (old & young people alike have had vehement opinions about politics for years, although obviously social media & the internet changes our exposure to it).
That said, once you have a pretty idea what your personal plans are for voting, I'd say you don't have to keep paying attention. There is incredibly little chance that anything major related to policies is going to change in the next few days, and the overwhelming negativity & anger that politics brings can be super tiring.
Good luck!

How to deal with lethargy?
I made this topic a long while back and got some good responses for getting motivated: https://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/16568/
Some of the good tips from there:
1) Take a walk.
2) Caffeine.
3) Celebrate little victories.
4) Put on some good music.

I just submitted my first review! Yay for me!
Reviews are kinda fun sometimes! I used to do a whole bunch but now I'm too lazy to critically assess games most of the time.
But yea, I always feel compelled to discuss parts of a game I feel could be improved. You're not doing anyone favors by giving them nothing but overwhelming praise :P
It's funny, I had a friend of mine who invested a lot of his time and effort into starting a business and was really disappointed when, after a year, it hadn't become a true success (basically no business is after a year, lol). He said he wished people had been a little more critical, because he had his hopes set too high from the beginning.

What are you thinking about right now?
Man, it gets easy to forget how small and insular this site is. You gotta remember that there really are only... 100? 200? people who are active members here, who regularly post on the forums, browse the site, whatever. People are gonna bump shoulders and be pricks and, when you've been together so long, you start to take everything personally. A genuine criticism against your game is like somebody slapping you in the face in front of all your friends - except it's not that, it's a genuine criticism done out of love and respect, said because someone truly wants to see you improve.
I feel like people are so quick to anger about so many things, especially on a forum like this - we feel like we know each other, we jump down each other's throats at the drop of a hat - it's easy to forget that most of what we think we know about someone on this site is assumptions made based on their posts. We have no idea what's going on with someone's personal life, what their situation is like; we don't even know if they're 12 or 27. It's easy to forget that.
I don't expect people to roll over when someone kicks them, but not every situation needs to be escalated. It feels like we have to die on every battlefield, but it's tiring, it's unrealistic, and it doesn't help as much as we'd like to believe.

Operation Kentonfall (kentona steps down)
finally, kentona gets to take the nap he has so desperately wanted
I'd volunteer for a position, but 1) I'm lazy and never around and 2) ya'll have some good people signing up here already.
Godspeed to kentona & godspeed to the new admins, eh?
EDIT: oh wait jk i volunteer to reestablish kentona's long lineage of copying statuses in humorous ways
