Pretentious Bullshit and Missing the Point: The Sequel to the Game to the Movie

I'll admit there is something fundamentally irritating when games like this get so much attention compared to other games that deserve it more... you know, games that are FUN to play.

I wanted to do Let's Plays of some games.

I'm guessing she wants to help people with a LP, not just practice her speech or kill time.

(I couldn't help myself)

And that's why I watch Zero Punctuation - the guy may rip on half the games I like, but it's damn amusing that I don't care.

Could anyone throw me a few city mapping pointers?

O.o

Damn calunio, how long did it take you to make that?

~RaZor~ Review

Oh geez...This is not the conversation I was expecting. I'll admit I don't know much about the specifics of goth or emo trends, but the definitions change every three months and it's not worth the effort. I said goth/emo because I'm fairly sure it gives most people a quick mental picture of Chris' character.

Pretentious Bullshit and Missing the Point: The Sequel to the Game to the Movie

I would give massive props to someone who decided to risk ridicule and exile by touching on a very sensitive subject, just because he had the cajones to do it. But there's a difference between wanting to make a good game that deals with some serious stuff, and adding pointless flame-fanning subject matter because it draws instant attention to itself.

It's sad, but it works - people love train wrecks, violence, and anything that's taboo. All you can do is try not to give the "artist" the attention he craves.

Personally, I'm not offended, but then again it takes a lot to offend me.

Lining the sidewalk with grass is a bit much now that you mention it. I'll tone it down and see how it looks, but I'll probably keep the park and some little planters with trees near the sidewalk. They're fairly common in most cities, and they add a little of the "rich untouched city" I'm going for. I'm trying to make the city a heavy contrast to a slum you visit later.

Thanks! But yea, sparsity was my problem - like I said, it takes a good minute to walk from end to end, and, a lot of the NPCs there are filler and don't contribute much. I plan on keeping it very similar, but just on a condensed scale, possibly breaking off a couple of the sections into separate maps.

How do you like the chipset? I don't mind the bigger buildings, but the houses seem a little lame to me.

Thanks for the advice everyone, it's definitely what I needed. I'm going to re-map it from scratch for a whole bunch of reasons, but the fact that I need 4 very obvious blockades to keep people from getting lost is a huge no-no.

The map size is 280x170.

Sorry, I haven't actually uploaded a project page so I just put these in the Locker. I'm not sure how to inline them.

DOING IT! - WEEK TWELVE - Dialogue

"He must have woken up from his thousand year slumber!"

Sorry, for some reason I got the idea in my mind that someone else had said this already. I don't know if there's any warning about the Bat King before they get in the cave, but if you mention that he's sleeping for 1000 years before you get in the cave, I would find this line bad (because it had already been said). As it is here, it's actually fine, although still a little cheesy, heh.

Also, you have some ellipses that could be commas or periods, but I'm on a ellipses-killing streak in my own dialogue so feel free to take that with a grain of salt.
