This is a series of bi-monthly articles to show off the best blogs that I've seen over the course of a fortnight. And believe me, I've checked them all.

The blogs spotlighted here will have interesting content that focuses on the game/s in question, will usually be longer than not and sometimes contain either graphical or video content as well as written.

The system is fine as it is. TT, I think your suggestion would be good if the amount of blogs that would make the cut are consistently this high or higher. However, these numbers...

author=Liberty
The numbers, if you're interested:

Last time - 9/85 were shown off. That's 10.5%
This time - 22/98 were shown off. That's 22.4%

... say otherwise. Sure, consistently making it to the best of blogs page has the potential to devalue the writer (oh, this person made the cut again? Surprise surprise. Next), but devs needs a much exposure as they can get. If they consistently make good blogs that deserve exposure, then I say they've earned a spot on here no matter how many times they have. If anything, it provides constant examples of well-written blogs to look at when deciding what to write in your own.

BTW holy crap that's a lot of blogs to read through. You've got some serious patience!

Ah, I go through them all to check for good ones for Writer spot on the front page, so... I just keep the good ones on a list and double-check them on the right dates. Actually, front page is where I do the juggling between great blog and not-shown-dev. I try not to show off devs that have been on there recently, so that others get more exposure. Of course, sometimes it can be hard when there's only 9 great bits and like, one decent article and 2 okay reviews to pick from... XD

I know why kentona gave me these jobs now. :shakes fist at sky and kentona:

That said, if there did come a time where we consistently got great blogs, I might consider either just showing the best of those off OR do a weekly version instead.

Yeah, I suppose you're right.

If you or Luchino wrote blogs that weren't so great one week, I wouldn't add them (I think that's happened to both of you before, actually), but because you both keep a steady stream of great blogs, you make the list.

Well of course you wouldn't and you have, which is why I couldn't understand your point. I disagree with you on a lot of things Liberty but there's one thing for sure, you're fair.

Personally, I am less tempted to read a log if it's part of a long list then if there are say just a couple. I mean, the more there are, the less likely the one who make it there end up being read. It's simple probability. That might just be me though.

Like exposure wise, I think a single blog per game is enough for every "best of". A good writer is still rewarded, there are less logs in the list which increases the chances of games getting attention.

Also, if you limited this feature to say, 5 or 3, that would really "mean" something so to speak. It really means that what you did stood out. Again, personally, I would much rather make the list very rarely when there are three spots to make then make it every week when 10% of logs make it there. I don't know if I'm making sense but if everyone is number 1 there's no number 1.

Just to clarify though that's just my opinion which is probably again the minority. It's great you're doing this and you're consistent and reliable about it too. Just some ideas to make the whole thing more "meaningful" so to speak (no that it's meaningless at the moment, far from it!).
Honestly, I think that limiting it isn't the way to go, because the whole aim of making these articles was to see what is out there and shed light on the good blogs so that people would aim for a bit better - just a bit. If I only picked 3-5 blogs there'd be constantly luchino in the top most of the time because her blogs are almost always the full kit. Yours would feature a lot too because again, almost always the full kit. I think the normal rate is a little short - about 10-15 is a good amount. That's around 10/15% of the blogs per fortnight.

That said, again, I have a thing in mind for later down the track which will be a little more restricted, but until then I'll be keeping up the normal pace of the best, no matter the amount. It will vary because the amounts vary, and besides, it's not fair to pick an exclusive list for those who did a great job but fail to be in the 'top 5' or so.

There's no prizes, and it's every week. The current amounts are decent - again, I wanted a larger one for week 10 because, hey, never thought it'd get this far. I'm not notorious for keeping things up. XD Just ask the wisa- uh... let's just say there are some things that have fallen by the wayside before and reaching 10 is a milestone. XD

I do understand that reading all of a larger list might be a bit of a task, but hey, that's what the titles and game names are for. If something catches your interest, I'm sure you'll check it out. There's no onus for not reading every thing on the list, after all.
Hey Best of Blogs was your own initiative, not a task I foisted on you!
True, true, but I was talking about the What's Written, from whence Best of Blogs spawned.
;p

I'm just poking, though. I don't mind doing it at all~
That's fine. It's your thing anyway. You have the right to manage it like you want. To be honest, the only log I ever read is "what's written", I very rarely (if ever) read devlogs otherwise. I read it because it's only one and I assume it'll be interesting.
