Description
"We can talk about the merits of engines all we want. It'd be really cool to encourage another renaissance where there's not crazy expectations for a magnum opus RPG, but more just story oriented pixel art games made by people who don't take it too seriously."
Let's spend month putzing around RPG Maker 2003 like it's 2004 again.
In this event, load up RM2k3 (official or otherwise) - or any other engine of that era - and create...
Project1 - play around in the engine with the default assets to figure out how the engine works
2k3's Adventure - a short RTP game showcasing the engine, with a dog as a playable character
Yume Nik2k3 - Release an atmospheric walking simulator
The 2k3 Way - release the first episode of a story-centric fantasy
Vapor2k3ware - release a gameprofile with ridiculous beautiful screenshots but nothing else
2k3 vs. Dog - a complex battle engine demo game
Pom Gets RM2k3 - have your release be played by a streamer
2003 Shots - break the engine in clever ways
2k3's Realm - release a demo of your eventual magum opus (to be completed by 2026)
2k3 Funeral - release a compellingly different game in style and substance
Alex d'Orm2k3 - Translated a foreign RPG Maker game into English

Inspiring 2k3 Dev - Inspired others to work on their projects for the event
Glitch 2k3 - Game submitted to Boulevard of Broken 2k3 Dreams being an unplayable, glitchy mess, just like a proper beginner 2k3 game!
*SURPRISE*
Joined 2k3 Event - Joined the Boulevard of Broken 2k3 Dreams event (super secret achievement!). Achievement just for doing the bare minimum and signing up!
There aren't any real rules or objectives to this event - it's pretty chill. You can even load up old forgotten projects and work on them! You don't have to finish anything or even release anything playable (just like in 2004)! Make a gameprofile! Or just screenshots! I am going to be generous with achievements in the end.

I am cooking up SOMETHING for the Project1 achievement, this is pretty fun so far! i wanted to try out rpgm2003 for a while now so this is a neat opportunity!

RPG Maker 95, 2000, 2003, XP (released July 2004 so it counts)
Game Maker 6.x and below (6.0 was October 2004 apparently!)
Ren'Py 4.0 and earlier
ika, TURBU, Action 001 Maker.
There's also Unreal Engine 2 (released in 2000), Unity 1.0 (though the latter was *GASP* 2005)
Plus lots of other game engines released in the first half of the 2000s or late in the '90s.
Though nothing is preventing one from, say, turning a custom engine or even the newer Makers into looking like a game from the period. :D

I honestly wish I knew about RPG Maker when RPG Maker 2K3 came out. But back then, I would have had to get the illegal copy of it...
What was I doing in 2003 anyways? I think I was in college. Would have been playing FF X-2 and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, I guess?
