Description



Some of you might not know what a Release Something! Day (RS!D) is. Basically, it's a day where you release something - anything! - in order to get feedback from the community.

Release Something! Days used to be a regularly occurring events back when the community had a problem with releasing stuff. It was created as a way to encourage sharing, collaboration, feedback, and content in the community. The aim is to truly try to capture the spirit of releasing something.

It is not about prepping a major release, or making something in a fury to have something new to show for the event. It is about showing your works-in-progress, getting feedback, and checking out what other people are working on. Like a snapshot of RMN's development community.


WHATTA RELEASING?
Music, tiles, sprites, graphics of any type, gameplay (videos of gameplay tests are good), tech demos, demos - even completed games (but don't strive for a finished product; that's not the point of RS!D).


GOTTA HAVE RULES
- To 'Release Something' just upload it straight to this event page. Sign in/up, then hit 'Submit' in the top right corner of the page and browse until you find the file you want to 'Release'. Voila~
- You can release more than one thing, but try to make sure it's something you've been working on at least recently (say, in the last month or so). Keep it relevant!
- Release all through the weekend.
- DO NOT steal the things you see here, if someone wants feedback on a resource or script. I doubt we have to say it, but it's worth saying just in case someone uses the 'but you never said...' shit to justify being a fuckwit.
- To give feedback, use @username and then hide tags (depending on length and amount of feedbacks in post. So, for example:

GOTTA GET GOODIES
There will be a badge worth 10 MS for releasing something. One per person.
Best feedback givers will also get a badge worth 20 MS. Because the feedback is what counts most!


Just to re-iterate: You are releasing something :ANYTHING: that you have done on your project over the last month or two. It can be a screenshot, a face image, planned dialogue, a script snippit, a resource, a demo (if you have one on hand) or a video of a system or anything like that. It does not have to be something that you whip up over this weekend - in fact, it's HIGHLY ENCOURAGED that you NOT do that! Just dump something in! Or a few somethings!

I don't know why, but those black edges adds something that I really like. I also like the color combinations and simple style of it, but man, I really need to make those bar more symmetrical. I was planning to add custom "New Game/Load Game/Shutdown" windows/text. I will probably put them under the clown if I can get things to work (in Ace, of course). If I'll use the default title box and position, I'll just do my best with what I have. Thanks for your feedback, Lib!

This game was originally made in RM95 and then ported into RMXP. The latter is what you see in the video :)

@unity:I'm really liking the monsters and the first animation sheet! By comparison, the second animation sheet looks rather flat and dull. Perhaps adding some more shading, particles, or glow would do a lot to make it more interesting.

Very kool stuff! Not sure if I like the more detailed dirty-looking animations more or the really simple but pretty ones. I really like the ring ones on the second sheet. And cute-creepy critters! They suit the tone so well, great job on that mixture! Not to mention that the UFO is just funny and stylish.

- Those battlers are nice and freaky as well! Is that UFO a reference to Earthbound's Starmen? I think the pink/purple worm creature (2nd one from the bottom left) could do without the lame gradient shading. Watch your line consistency as well, In some parts I see some white artifacts over the lines of these enemies.

Yeah, the UFO design has decals that look like those buttons on a Starman's suit because I thought that was cool and I'm a huge Earthbound-loving nerd XD

The woman with the eye in her stomach, the stoner, mushrooms growing off his back crocodile and the smiling fish kraken are definitely the best of the bunch.

Thanks! Yep, I started making/drawing my own animations back in Luxaren Allure, although only a handful of them in that game are mine, as I got impatient XD; In this game I'm going all-custom with the animations (with help from JoSeraph as well!)

There's a definite Earthbound cutesy vibe I'm going for with the monsters. Glad that's evident ^_^

Those monsters are great, especially pregnant eye lady. Cool color choices there; very psychedelic. Animations are hard to judge like that, but they're looking good--ESPECIALLY that slime skill.

The monsters in this game are so creative! I like the two on the left the most, especially bottom left. He looks so cheerful and ready to eat me up~ The bottom right corner one is rather terrifying. It'll be fun to see the battle animations in action~

That's a good point. I personally don't find them all that jarring. Here's an example of how battle animations look in a video:

It's only "bad" because it's generic and kind of ignores how light hits a form, or a 3-dimensional shape. Shading in general can be a powerful technique in giving 2D shapes form to begin with, and with the way most gradient tools work, it tends to flatten out the image instead. That's pretty much why artists tend to stay away from it.
Goodness gracious, this has really spiralled out of control. I decided not to add more noise, but I'll try for a piece or two of constructive feedback where I can; everyone else, consider yourself complimented in a non-constructive way.

World Map is hard to read. Very pretty trailer; considering the level of attention given to stuff like animations, a non-default UI would be worth considering (basic RM battle menus are the worst).

So, I played this game until I got stuck in a forest. Entering a path kept leading back to the same spot and doesn't seem to be intentional. Overall, I'd say this game's kind of a mess at times. The map forks when there's really one way to go, events repeat themselves again and again for no apparent reason, and battles are a cinch since the strongest skills can be used again and again at no cost. Not sure what else to say, it's just kind of your average RPGmaker game.

So it's like...Super Minecraft World I guess. Pretty cool. It's too bad I'm not really a fan of Minecraft but this is definitely interesting. I spent some time collecting stuff then I uh...I got stuck in a lake. (Can I not jump?) Not sure what sets it apart from the other Minecraft clones out there but I wish you luck in making it.

Okay so, I haven't played this demo all the way, but I really like what I'm seeing so far. The environments are detailed and you're using some of my favorite music resources. Once you have that, put the folder in the "worlds" folder that comes with your download, start the launcher and play it from there.

Archeia = The attack animation looks cool. You're pretty good at replicating the RTP from RPG Maker :)
