Description

Some of you might not know what a Release Something! Day (RS!D) is. Basically, it's a day where you release something - anything! - in order to get feedback from the community.

Release Something! Days used to be a regularly occurring events back when the community had a problem with releasing stuff. It was created as a way to encourage sharing, collaboration, feedback, and content in the community. The aim is to truly try to capture the spirit of releasing something.

It is not about prepping a major release, or making something in a fury to have something new to show for the event. It is about showing your works-in-progress, getting feedback, and checking out what other people are working on. Like a snapshot of RMN's development community.

WHATTA RELEASING?
Music, tiles, sprites, graphics of any type, gameplay (videos of gameplay tests are good), tech demos, demos - even completed games (but don't strive for a finished product; that's not the point of RS!D).

GOTTA HAVE RULES
- To 'Release Something' just upload it straight to this event page. Sign in/up, then hit 'Submit' in the top right corner of the page and browse until you find the file you want to 'Release'. Voila~
- You can release more than one thing, but try to make sure it's something you've been working on at least recently (say, in the last month or so). Keep it relevant!
- Release all through the weekend.
- DO NOT steal the things you see here, if someone wants feedback on a resource or script. I doubt we have to say it, but it's worth saying just in case someone uses the 'but you never said...' shit to justify being a fuckwit.
- To give feedback, use @username and then hide tags (depending on length and amount of feedbacks in post. So, for example:

@Liberty
[hide]this page is pretty awesome but hey, I think you need to work on your logo making abilities because holy shit giiiiirl[/hide]

GOTTA GET GOODIES
There will be a badge worth 10 MS for releasing something. One per person.
Best feedback givers will also get a badge worth 20 MS. Because the feedback is what counts most!

Just to re-iterate: You are releasing something :ANYTHING: that you have done on your project over the last month or two. It can be a screenshot, a face image, planned dialogue, a script snippit, a resource, a demo (if you have one on hand) or a video of a system or anything like that. It does not have to be something that you whip up over this weekend - in fact, it's HIGHLY ENCOURAGED that you NOT do that! Just dump something in! Or a few somethings!

Hey, we eventually got the Valentine's game right? We'll get our badges next year. No worries!

Fixed.
;_;

I am over halfway done for compiling the names, it's just boring, going through every post to see who gave feedback to who and then you have to double-check to make sure that there's no repeats and...
>.<;
Red_Nova
Sir Redd of Novus: He who made Prayer of the Faithless that one time, and that was pretty dang rad! :D

Ah, so the truth comes out. Here I am having thought you were just overworked all this time, when in fact, you've just found it too dull focus on. I am so disillusioned. You're supposed to be the RTP Banana Princess!

I am totally messing with you. I knew all along it was something like that. But jeez, you're not supposed to say it.

... Liberty, I'm trying to think of something to make fun of you right now, but I just can't! D:
Compiling can be boring work, and you have to focus on it exclusively or you'll mess up (like I did about 10 times already omg the amount of times I realised I'd put the wrong name under the wrong person... >.<; )

I'll get there, don't worry, it's just a bit of a slog.
So…since this was in my notices again, and after finding out that Liberty is STILL having trouble compiling all the names for this and what not, I decided to go through the entire event ALL by myself and list all of the names of the individuals who should receive the Sanic and the Knux achievements and why out why exactly is it taking so long for Liberty to do this - and just to help her out, I guess.

After going through the list of the many different names and entries, I…can see why, actually, lol; there’s a lot of shit here.

The whole damn thing took me almost around 4 hours to go through it all and I had to double-check everything, especially with people who provided feedback for more than 40 entries, just to see if they qualified or not for the Knuckles achievement. The good thing was that there weren’t a lot of people who qualified.

So, without further ado – and in alphabetical order – here’s who should get the bloody achievements:

Sanic Achievement:
  • AceOfAces
  • Addit
  • Archeia_Nessiah
  • Badluck
  • BerryRMN
  • Craze
  • CYBERLOUS
  • Deltree
  • dinkledaberry
  • eplipswich
  • Frogge
  • Gourd_Clae
  • Hasvers
  • Housekeeping
  • InfectionFiles
  • Irog
  • J-Man
  • karins_soulkeeper
  • KatanaHiroshi
  • kory_toombs
  • kr0x
  • Kylaila
  • Liberty
  • llan14
  • LorSquirrel
  • Luchino
  • Lucy_Fox
  • luiishu535
  • MakioKuta
  • mjshi
  • pianotm
  • Pizza
  • pooperflooper
  • Punkitt
  • Ratty524
  • Red_Nova
  • Rose_Guardian
  • Sated
  • SgtMettool
  • Thunder176
  • zDS
  • Zeigfried_McBacon
  • Zero3D

Knux Achievement:
  • dinkledaberry
  • Kylaila
  • pianotm
  • Red_Nova

So basically 43 different individuals provided at least feedback on one of the entries here and earned themselves an achievement. Only dinkledaberry, Kylaila, pianotm and Red_Nova were the only ones who provided feedback on ALL of the entries. (You guys are insane.)

Basically what I did was write down each member’s name that popped up during the first sign of feedback from page 1 all the way until the feedback section had ended with each person that they gave feedback on adding that name under that member’s particular list and if that particular member popped up again with new feedback for new entries I just double-checked all the names again to make sure there wasn’t any duplicates. Overall, it was pretty easy to do, actually, it just took me a while, and I can understand why it’s taken Liberty such a long time to get this shit done.

Liberty, these are the people who should receive the achievements. I hope you're not upset or take all of this the wrong way like you're too slow, or something, or you’re just not capable of doing something like this – because I know that you can, you’ve proven it in the past – but I can understand why it’s taken you a while if it took me almost 4 hours to go through this myself.

So let’s end this nightmare, shall we?

- GIVE US OUR STINKIN’ BADGES!!!
I'm still going to have to go through and double check but I'll give the achieves (with a clause that I might have to retroactively change if there's something missing). Thank you addit.

Honestly, after losing the first compilation I'd done of the list I was more than a bit ugggggh about it, but I have been hacking away. I'm now about 70% done so it shouldn't take too long to double check but I will trust.

Edit:
Also, many many kudos to anky for revising the achieve system a bit. Used to be you could only enter one name at a time and the name box was at the bottom of the list. Now you can do the old name, name, name, name thing and it's at the top. Makes giving out achieves so, so, so much easier and faster. (That said, I think you spelt Ilan wrong because I had to do short lists instead of one major one due to his name not working - it straight out blanks if there's any name that's not correct in the list of names which is a bit annoying but once you figure out where the trouble is...)

Oh, and for your trouble I sent a badge winging your way for the help. Thanks again, Addit.
Wheeeee! Thank you Libby, Thank you Addit ~
Thanks for the compilation, Addit! Also thanks for this event, Liberty!
Thanks, Libby and Addi! I just got mah sweet Sanic achievement!

Hey, I didn't thought I would get the feedback achievement when I just gave feedback to like... five or six people... XD
Yeah, I didn't expected it too. xD

Thanks for your work with the compiling, Liberty and Addit. (⌒.⌒)❤
Thanks a lot Liberty and Addit!

I would like to suggest a method to handle future feedback event checking. I don't want to offend any of you. I'll be happy if the idea below (or some part of it) helps you:

* open your favorite spreadsheet editor
* copy all participant names in the first column, leaving the first row empty
* copy all participant names in the first row, leaving the first column empty
* columns are feedback givers, rows are feedback receivers
* put a "1" in the cells where a giver gave feedback to a receiver
* at the bottom of each column, compute the sum of the column
* you have your winners when the sum of the column is NumberOfParticipant-1
* have two cells somewhere else in the spreadsheet. One with "Page of posts done" and the other with the value. Each time you're done with a page, you can save and quit, keeping your progress.
* to mark a cell as checked, turn its color to green

ALL of the entries !!!
Did they give feedback to themselves ? ;-)
I was replying to the feedback given! And explaining myself! HAH!

If you plan to take them away, I will start growling.
If you then do it anyway..
