I have to admit, I ain't really a fan of corgis but that shit is cuter than cute. Wook at his widdle tail aaawwww he's such a cootie yus he is yus he is!
Goddammit! I always make it late to the drama. xD ...I just wanted to add that while I support the whole "It's always the developers choice" thing. Let's be frank about it. There's only so much pressure that a person or even a big company can withstand. If you were at the receiving end of that kind of pressure you'd probably understand. And one thing that confounds me is that usually the kind of people who complain about this sort of stuff -DO KNOW- or should know, what it's like to be prejudiced against, to feel ostracized, to fight every day against society's stigmas, and yet, they have no qualm in acting in the same way towards others.

...Criticism is a good thing. It's a positive force of change. There IS such a thing as gaining a deeper understanding on things, and changing your mind on issues. There IS such a thing as reaching out to other people and finding a middle ground that benefits us all the most. And it's not like we're talking about a one-way street either, so there's always room for dialogue. But real criticism sounds more like: "People may not be into thing because reason, please consider that" and less like: "Thing is bad and should not exist, and anyone who is into thing is bad person" which unfortunately is something that I see too often around here. =/

Edit: Complementary cute animals picture.
Man, I'm so glad DSP decided to play Undertale completely blind. He's gone in and killed shit left, right and center and it's glorious. Of course, his videos are getting carpet bombed by the asshole section of the fandom (of which there are many) but it's actually interesting to see someone do the killy-killy-stab-stab in their first playthrough. Apparently he's going to do a non-stabby-stabby playthrough next, but damn if people haven't gotten the wind up their arses about him 'not playing the game right waaaaah'. fucktards.

Nothing reveals Humanity so well as the games it plays. A game of betrayal, where the most suspicious person is brutally murdered? How savage.

Ugh. Why is it that so many good games get such shitty fanbases? Are people really so dense they don't realize that making your own choices the entire point of the game? It annoys me to no end when people tell others how to play any game, especially games I like.

Luckily the Ace Attorney fandom hasn't devolved over the years. I guess it helps those games cater to audiences with an IQ over 75. -.-
You usually get similar fans to your own personality, and that's exactly what happened to DSP. He got whiny trolls for fans.
I like DSP, and as far as I know I'm not a whiny troll. Of course, I wouldn't call myself a fan, I just like some of his stuff because, well, he's silly. It's when you take him seriously that you act like an idiot. Too many people take him seriously.
Yeah I'm an ironic DSP fan as well, though lately he hasn't really done anything of interest. Even the KWO or TIHYDP editors aren't that great anymore. His best is still the MGS series and Demon's Souls.
I enjoyed his Fallout 4 and Skyrim (and Fallout 3 and New Vegas) LPs. His Undertale one is actually pretty good - he's so enthusiastic and happy about it... even though he's killing everything. He's treating it like it's a normal RPG, but he's like gushing about how cool it is. XD

You'd be surprised how little a big company can care about the little man, so I don't really see your point here. They're following the money, not struggling against prejudice.

I doubt any of the people that complain about this kind of crap in video games would ever buy those games either way.

I'm not a big fan of LP'ers in general, but a close one for me is Game Grumps, and it's primarily because they don't try to pick apart the game for anyone else or even care about whether they're good or not, they simulate the experience of chilling out with your nerd friends and having fun, striking casual conversations, and being themselves. I feel like that's more interesting than someone trying too hard to act while playing a game.

The worst I've seen so far is Markiplier and his playthrough of Five Nights at Freddy's. He was freaking out like a wuss and I was kind of rolling my eyes and cringing throughout (the game isn't even that scary to me).

I've always enjoyed GG for this aspect as well, but also how this plays into watching them as a Game Designer. You get a good look at how total laymen, who sometimes aren't even good at the game/genre in question play a game and understand its direction and mechanics. It can be very helpful, especially when they play hugely popular games like Zelda or Mario titles.

On the other hand, as a fan of DeceasedCrab, I can totally understand why people love more generated and acted personalities too. Although I think there's more to DC than just that, but, it plays a large role in the quality of his work.

And then there's Brickroad, who is a great game designer in his own right, which makes his breakdown of the design of what he's playing very helpful and interesting, outside of how entertaining his stuff is in the first place.

Oh, I almost forgot about Brickroad. He's good, too, though I admit I only remember him for how he tore Super RMN Bros. to shreds.

Brickroad does LPs?
My favourite LPers are the Yogscast and a new one, Matt Bowyer (currently LPing Suikoden V). Granted, the Yogs don't really LP new games too much (well, Hannah does, and so does Kim sometimes) but they have a lot of fun in old games (their Gary's Mod series are hilarious) and minecraft. I watch for their personalities, mostly. They mix together really well and you can tell they're a bunch of gaming buddies who just have a ton of fun messing around with their hobby.

Also, the livestreams... I'm still working through their Christmas streams.

Hannah, Kim, Lewis and Simon are my favourites of the group~

Aside from them, GenericB and NicoB... oh and HCBailly who has made a come-back after being away for ages (he'll be LPing Secret of Evermore soon!).

I have Brickroad on my sub list but I don't watch his LPs much... they tend to be of games I don't really want to watch and he's been livestreaming a lot more lately and I'm not big on watching livestreams (thanks to my internet).

Tomorrow's my birthday, and my gf is pissed at me for ruining her plans for me.
I kept telling her she doesn't need to spend money on me. Eventually she decided to not. Now, she is angry. Tomorrow is going to suck.

I don't have many LP'ers in my subscriptions, mostly because i can't understand the english of people with not the best audio quality, and it gets worse when they have an accent.

I watch game grumps for the reasons Pizza mentioned, and Arin and the other one form quite an appealing double act despite my grievances with each one of them.

I follow gamerkat09 because she's one of the only female Let's players i've found that has a decent audio recording equipment, a clear, easy to understand voice, and she tends to play games blind, so, as someone mentioned above, it's great to see what someone does in a game when they know nothing about it.

And finally i enjoy Yahtzee Croshaw's "Let's Drown Out" series which, more than a let's play, it's sort of the lovechild of a let's play and a podcast. I can easily use it as background sound when i'm working and they alway talk about interesting things. They do sound bored most of the time though which makes me feel drowzy after a couple of hours.

Bullying and harassment is ok as long as you're doing it "to the right people".

You could remind her it is YOUR birthday and not hers? Shit, my ex used to do that shit to me too. She would make plans for my birthday as if there was nothing i personally wanted to do for that day.
