I was just trying to help. I always thought that chipset, as well as the others in the complete set, we're always quite grainy. With even 10-20 minutes you can make the entire map completely smooth like VX or something. I'm not saying that's better, I wsa just showing the other side of things.
I actually got quite annoyed when myserguy put that resized picture up which wasn't even accurate.

The top one definitely looks 100 percent better.


These are from my project. I am aiming for 100 percent custom graphics. I believe there may still be some Abyss Diver rtp in there. Whaddya think?
That's pretty damn hot. What's your game about? Also try adjusting the eyes a bit of the charsets. I think they're a little bright. I like that morpheus looking guy.
Hey thanks. I am getting pretty swift with Photoshop. Hehe, I guess her head does resemble Morpheus. Um, I am not sure what the game is about, really. XD
It will involve aliens though, and likely some form of time travel. Right now, you start at this bunker sorta like Fallout except it is a colony somewhere in outer space on a planet called Tzol (part of the Mayan word "Tzolkin") I think there is a nearby moon and I am sure I will call it Kin. The two worlds differ in that Tzol is full of life (much of it is hostile to humans) yet also bountiful in resources, and Kin is more of a Mars-type desert planet. Mostly crazies emmigrate to Tzol because it is considered more dangerous, while conservative colonists have hopes for creating a terraformed eden on Kin. You are Nyro, a colonist on Tzol.
That is mostly all that I have on a story.

Looks kind of cluttered to me, it's pretty hard to see where I am and where I'm going. There is no question that the map is pretty well done, but if I was to play this game I would be lost and confused.
Anyway, the custom graphics are great, but I can't quite tell what that is in the domes. Is it smoke?
While I like the screen Eschalt, I don't like the color scheme that's going on. There's too much gray in the map, it's hard to distinguish between the walls, floors, and what's actually passable to the player. I'm mostly referring to the first screenshot, the second isn't as bad. I also don't think the gradient walls look too good, the ones in the second screenshot fit better. A little editing could work wonders for the maps, right now it's a little hard to distinguish between objects and what's passable. Great custom graphics, though.
Thanks for the comments guys! Neophyte, thanks for the tip, I can see what you mean. I am still improving it, there's a lot more to add. I am trying to slowly add various colors as I go, like the blue lights and. . .yeah, I need to add more stuff. I am still trying to make decent wall textures, you can see the obvious progression from the first screen, as it's more of a test map. Well, see for yourself anyway, this is an updated texture I just made thanks to a little motivation.(hopefully a little better?)

Looks really good to me Eschalt. I don't mind if the graphics aren't 100% custom, but if you're aiming for all custom, shouldn't you get rid of charas EX hair the woman has in the first screen as well as those floor tiles that look like a part of earlier made RM chipset to me? :P

For some reason as soon as I saw "Release Something Day IV" I thought 'I should make a game about vampires.. that'd be cool'.
No wait 'Half vampire.. half muse' That'd be awesome.
and he should be able to feed on blood.

Though he should have favorite types and least favorite types.
and.. since he's half angel he should be able to transform at will.

To be honest.. I am blazing through the stuff (like usual). These screenshots are just to show off what I have done so far.
The telekinesis (controlling enemies, literally)
Psy Drain (Drains life force of enemies)
Blood Form (Transforms into the Muse when near death)
Ghost Step (Moves faster than the human eye)
and then the top secret stuff that .. makes the stuff I've mention look amateur.
I forgot how fast I actually work on games so even if I take a 8 day break right now.. I'll still be done before Release something day on the whole part of the chapter.. so expect like 45 minutes of game play.. depending on if I take a break or not it may be more.

Ah. Well, it looks alright so far besides the weird faceset. Is that all functional? Or are they just mock-ups?
It's all functional.. and fun as hell. I -love- controlling enemies for some reason.. even though I did all the eventing I can do that all day. Controlling enemies and using Ghost Step.
OH! My favorite of ALL favorites is the mist walk.

@Eschalt: That looks like the kind of thing I would be interested in.
You said completely custom, though...aren't those RTP Future edits? Or are my eyes failing me. (I think of edit and custom as being two seperate categories, not that it matters to me at all.)
