author=DarklordKeinorI said it's very rare and that still seems to be the case, especially in light of the "witch hunt" comment. Someone making an article on the web is not an issue for the developer. A lot of people giving the developer flak is.
So because you've followed several videogames during development, and issues did not arise on the topic, there exists no LGBT criticism?
Here are several examples that exist.
I could not open the first link. The second link seems justified to me, if you have a large quantity of relationships, one can wonder where the same sex relationships are. The Dragon Crown link seemed to have mostly with sexism and very little with LGBT to do.
"The idea that Lara – like Samus from Metroid – should have an origin story in which she is weak in order to explain her strength is difficult to swallow. Male characters are generally permitted to be strong without needing a back story in which they are broken – why should female characters be different? Why do we need to protect Lara through an awful ordeal for her strength to make sense?"
First of all, this argument conveniently ignores multiple instances of female characters being powerful without a justification.
Second, there does exist movies and games in which male characters go from being weak to badasses. Fight Club? The original Evil Dead movie? Star Wars?
I'm only really accustomed to Metroid and Star Wars, so I'll cover that.
Luke did indeed go from wimp to badass, but he never went trough anything even remotely close to Samus' freak out in front of Ridley. I can not accept those examples as equal or even near equal.
I can unfortunately not comment on Lara Croft.
Back to your point, Crystalgate, it is debatable how to correctly implement a female character. There are obvious examples that don't work, such as Duke Nukem Forever sexploitative nature. Once again though, people will debate over anything, no matter how much forethought the designers put into their games.
I can not recall a game where the designers actually put a lot of forethought into the implementation of female characters getting a lot of flak. Heck, if you even need to put a lot of forethought into it as opposed to it coming naturally when you write, then there is to some extent already a problem.

Also, misandrist.
Lord, that's all I can see when I heard either misandry or misogyny.. Both have been used to death for the stupidest shit

Games and politics should never mix except when the politics are part of the game.
Hogwash! We should seize the means of AAA game development! Only once free from the shackles of the bottom line seeking publishers can we work to build the wall between church and state, separating the moneyed interests from editorials and journalism unfettered by the threat that unfavorable columns will cause the stream of review and prerelease copies to dry up to write their previews that the consumers thrive on to guide their purchasing decisions in the only important period of a new game's release!
The revolution is at hand!

The fact that GamerGate even exists demonstrates exactly why we need people like Sarkeesian to shut the fuck up.
Do you really say things like this and then act surprised when all the women fistslam the eject button and bail out of the conversation?
What the hell did Sarkeesian ever do to you? She has an opinion on the internet. But you can't stand that. It's honestly really sad to me.
But remember, this isn't about forcing women out of the conversation, or out of the industry, guys! Women are perfectly welcome to have opinions as long as they know their place and don't disagree in any way.

Rigght, it's about how everyone who disagrees with a woman needs to shut the hell up because they're all misogynists/virings/neckbeards/freakin white/privileged/etc. or they have "internalized misogyny" or someshit
but nah, gotta listen & believe instead of trust but verify
EDIT:
Or create another hashtag that's sure to stop things this time (but then falls on its ass within the week)
EDIT 2:
then there's this shit right here

Fair enough, it is rare. Nonetheless, it happens, unless Daniel Vavra lied, which I still entertain as a possibility, though I cannot imagine what he would gain from a false claim, outside of attention.

The first link referenced the controversy of the game, Tomodachi Life. The contention was that it excluded gay marriages. I agree with the criticism of the second link, but I included it to show that LGBT criticism is actually quite common. The third link is more to do with sexism as you said. I was trying to show that the developer had made negative aspersions pertaining to the author's sexuality because the author critiqued the artwork. That's a better example sexism, though it does show some of the hostility that is sometimes directed at the LGBT crowd.

Search your feelings, you know it be true.
Other than that scene, the death of his family in Episode IV. While he might not have had a complete meltdown over that, it isn't farfetched to say that it impacted Luke's character.

Implementation as far as character design is concerned, though character behavior may be scrutinized as well. Tumblr will come to the rescue for a quick, though reasonable, concept. The critique pertains to the rampant sexualization of women in video games. I do think it can be a bit excessive, but the feminists argue that the characters are only sex objects. Depending on the character/characters in question, this criticism may be completely valid. The Dead or Alive fighting series is probably one of the worst offenders.
The thing is, there are many female characters that, while overly sexualized, have an enriching personality to make up for it. Bayonetta is a good example. She has an attractive design, intelligent personality, and a complex backstory.

You are a sexist jerk and it is sexist of you to infantilize women by assuming that they will all go into hysterics over suggesting that ONE SPECIFIC WOMAN has no clue what she's talking about and should shut the fuck up.
My girlfriend is demonstrably female and guess what, she thinks that Sarkeesian should shut the fuck up too. Not because Sarkeesoid is a woman, but because AT BEST Sarkeesoid has no goddamn idea what she's talking about and is a terrible terrible terrible analyst completely unqualified to be a "Pop Culture Critic" whatever the fuck that is .
What the hell did Sarkeesian ever do to you? She has an opinion on the internet. But you can't stand that. It's honestly really sad to me.
If anything, I have a documented tendency to overreact to people that are wrong on the internet. Her having a vagina has nothing to do with it.
As for what she did "to" me, no more, or less, than Jack Thompson. An ongoing attack on video games--probably the one thing I have loved my entire life--under completely false pretenses.
But remember, this isn't about forcing women out of the conversation, or out of the industry, guys! Women are perfectly welcome to have opinions as long as they know their place and don't disagree in any way.
Fuck. You.
Implying that I am a misogynist who thinks that women should "know their place" because I think that Anita Sarkeesian is a liar and an idiot is like saying that you are a misogynist who thinks that women should "know their place" because you strongly disagreeing with THIS, as you did up-thread.
You disagreed with that just as strongly as I do with Sarkeesian, I'm sure. Yet it was something said by a woman. Does that mean you think all women should know their place?
Don't make something about gender when it's about the colossally stupid and awful beliefs of an individual.

No offence, but I don't like the way you said that. That's like saying women should not have a say at all. If anything, the first part of that statement contradicts the 2nd part, especially with the "in any way".

Nuh uh, you are. *crosses arms in a huff*
If GamerGate's not about women, by God, we'll make GamerGate about women. These last clusterfuck of pages made good on that (coincidentally about the same time you showed up, Mr. Misandry McGODDAMNIT).
