DMG-001 is the model number of all original Game Boy units, with other versions and peripherals typically carrying the DMG prefix as well. due to this, 'DMG' has become sort of a shorthand for the Game Boy among chiptune and hardware people.

I haven't heard anything about it actually supporting different tile sizes, scaling, and appropriate collision detection beyond pining users. The best I've seen is this twitter stuff PepsiOtaku posted. Until there's official confirmation I've placed that feature soundly in the "lol" category.
