Hrm. Maybe selling the supplies on the Mako might also net enough cash to buy replacement parts that Kasady could use to fix her up proper, and we can all get back on schedule, albeit with a delay? I guess it all depends on how much that cargo is actually worth to them, how much haggle room there is, if they even have the supplies necessary, not to mention how much they might cost. Might be something to talk over with Ozardel. For now, I think I wanna check out that noise. I just hope it's nothing serious...

I think it would be best to head over to Ceres as fast as possible, although I would first check out the onboard computers for usefull data. Preferibly, I'm looking for any kind of tools that could help us to salvage the cargo of the Mako. Also, if no one else objects, I'd propose to take the position of leader. After checking the computers for any useful data, I'd ask everyone to look for weapons or other tools that could be helpful in case of an emergency.

You never know when actual space pirates might decide to show up.

Clarification. The Mako was destroyed. You're on the ship the Mako was investigating for rescue and salvage. It is the same model ship as the Mako, but badly damaged, and even without the damage, poorly maintained.

Lintis: As you consider what can be done with this ship, it occurs to you that the money you receive can easily be spent on a better ship than to repair this bucket. You go to the row of storage compartments. The first two are empty. The third contains spare parts for a star fighter shield generator (3 uses. Plus 2 to shield repair. Note: shield repair is not the same as shield regeneration. Shield repair only applies if the shield generator itself has been damaged. Shield repair can only be done at a docking station.). You open the fourth storage compartment and find...a girl! She looks to be between 10 and 12-years-old. She has audio implants where her ears would be. Scars visible at the edges of the implants tell a sinister story.

Agnelia: You hear noises next to you, as if containers like the one you're in being flung open. Soon, your door is opened, and you find yourself facing a man that looks just as surprised as you are.

Ozardel: You check the computer, and what luck! This scow was heading for Ceres anyway. Reading that, it becomes clear that once on Ceres, this ship will likely be claimed by the company. Still, due to the fact that the cargo is intact, there'll likely be a reward for it's safe return, maybe enough to purchase another ship.

Kasady: Heading to Ceres is the only viable option. There is a Gate nearby, but with your jump drive too damaged to repair, all you could do is fly around it, wasting fuel all the while.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

As Lintis removes the cover from the storage compartment, I spring out, dressed in a medical gown, and begin trying to choke him.

"ᛞᛁᛖ ᛊᚲᚢᛗ ᛁᛇᚢ ᚲᛁᛚᛚᛖᛞ ᚦᛖᛗ" I shout, furious and seething. I crawl onto Lintis's back and wrap my arms tightly around his neck. I'm determined to make him pay for killing my doctor.

(I'm a bit rusty. Does that say "Die scum! You killed them!"?)

Yes. Nobody here is going to understand me, though.

Speaking of which, where's my translation visor? I stole that off a woman at a spaceport back on Earth.

Oh! Sorry! I forgot!

When you were discovered and brought aboard, the doctor put it in a cabinet with the rest of your belongings in the infirmary.

Er, I may have temporarily forgotten about the event in the OP. Welp. Thanks for the clarification, piano!

Anyway, I'm going to largely assume Lintis cannot understand Agnelia, so...

Well, looky here. A castawaaaaaaah! The hell are you doing!? Get off of me!

By the way, direct interaction like this: if you're both online, by all means, play it out. You don't have to wait for me or the other players. I will stop you short of killing each other, though.

I feel bored. How odd.

"Hey, hey!" I rush over to Lintis and the girl, and attempt to pry her off of his back.

"I'm not going to let you kill anyone, kid. Do you want to die?"

Wait, they're not attacking me? They're just trying to stop the fight? I loosen my grip and look back and forth warily between Lintis and Kasady.

That's not consistent with what I heard earlier. Maybe they're not the ones who attacked the ship after all.

I drop to the ground, still extremely cautious, and back away defensively towards the cabinet where my stuff is. I angrily yell "ᛊᛏᚨᛁ ᛒᚨᚲ" as I grab a headset and try to get it to stay on, which is a little harder than usual with no ears. I also grab a pair of pants and hold them out in front of me, scowling, ready to use the pant leg to strangle someone if necessary.

LockeZ, could you tell me what you use to write those runes? Do you use some translator or do you just know them by memory?

I was copying and pasting them individually from this wikipedia page.

I noticed the entire commotion and recognize the language the kid speaks. "ᛍᚨᛚᛗ ᛞᚭᚹᚾ ᚲᛁᛞ ᚹᛖ ᛞᚭ ᚾᚭᛏ ᚹᚨᚾᛏ ᛏᚭ ᚺᚢᚱᛏ ᛁᛇᚢ", I tell the scared kid as I approach with my arms extended and hands open.

"This kid might know what happened to this ships crew" I tell Kasidy and Lintis.

"This kid probably thought we were the enemy, and this is bad news. Judging by what we've seen in this ship so far, my guess is that this ship was boarded, and that whatever boarded it, might still be here and this kid might be the only survivor."

(...Lol, I was not prepared to actually need to read the runes. It was supposed to be incomprehensible, that's why I didn't translate it.)

(Anyway, my entire goal was to make a character who can't talk, so if you don't mind I'd like it if whatever grasp you have of my language is extremely rudimentary, since it died 2000 years ago. Your choice of runes is from a couple hundred years later than the ones I was using anyway.)

---

This guy's accent is almost incomprehensible, and his grammar is terrible, but he's the first person I've met who could even kind of speak my language, and so I drop my guard. I don't get close to him, though.

My visor translates what he says to the other two. I nod my head yes, without speaking. I tap my visor twice with my index finger and then point to Ozardel, and say "English," one of the only words I know in English.

You should all be reminded that in order to dwell in that ship, you need air, climate control, and in general, electricity. That requires fuel expenditure; fuel you don't have a lot of. Wouldn't it be nice to find yourself in a docking station before you ran out?

Whew! Looks like she can understand us. And you might be right about what happened here. Though, given our situation, I think we should start for... Ceres, was it? Like, soon. Maybe it's a risk, if what you're saying is true. However, I'm pretty sure they have a spaceport we can use. We'd have a bit more breathing room to figure stuff out once we get there.

Question: Is it standard process to communicate with a planet, or base, to request landing procedures? Or is it automated?

Automated, for the sake of not boring anyone with details.

(I know what yo were going after LockeZ, but seeing as my character can speak 50 languages, I attempted my best to communicate with you, even if it was in a bad accent)

"Alrgiht, Lintis, was it? You're right, we should go to Ceres as fast as possible" I turn towards The group, "I think it would be best to split up, I'm a pilot, so I'll stay here and guide the ship towards Ceres".

I look over to Kasidy and Lintis "Before we go however, I'd like to know in what shape this ship is. Kasidy, I think it would be best if you took a closer look at the ship before we restart the engines. Lintis, you said you fought pirates for a living right? Go with Kasidy, if my suspicions are correct and there's someone else on board, Kasidy will need your protection."

I sit down at the pilots seat and turn my head towards the kid "What you got there is some kind of translation device, right? What's your name kid?"

(I hope you guys don't mind me bossing around, but no one else claimed leadership so far)

Yeah, as a freelancer, I'm usually prepared for pirate attacks.

My face goes grim for a moment, then I look to Kasidy to see if he's ready.

Out-of-character aside: I don't necessarily mind being bossed around. Though, in my view, you give a good reason why we should split up, and why you split us up the way you did.
