"Alright guys, let's make the best with what we have. I say getting the Gauntlet is the top priority. Hmm... our credits won't be enough for what I want to propose. I would propose getting the gauntlet and two arrows as escorts, but we'd be 500 credits short and we won't have any credits to spare. On the other hand, we could buy two vipers and heavily modfiy them." I scratch my head as I think of all the possible formations we could come up with.

"We could also just buy the Berserker or the Conrad Knight, but I don't know how comfortable their cargo bays are"

"What we could also do is buy the Gauntlet and one Arrow, I'd be flying the arrow to give you guys cover. If we do that, we have 2000 credits to spare. Of those 2000 Credits, we should at least use 1000 to buy surplus corn and the leftovers to upgrade our ships or also use them for our merchantile shenanigans. What do you guys say?" I turn my head towards Agnelia "Just so you know, if you want to walk away, you're free to do so. But if you want to stay with us, speak your mind. If you'd like to propose a certain formation to use, I'm all ears."

@LockeZ Sorry that my post looks like it's ignoring yours, I was writing my little essay at the same time you were writing your request to piano.

EDIT: Is multiposting allowed in this game?

Don't forget that the Viper also seats two.

EDIT: Multiposting isn't restricted, but try editing your posts anyway. Just to keep the thread as clean as we can.

TAlking about seats, can people sit in the cargo hold?

No. That will lead to an arrest if you're scanned by a UAS ship.

Wow, ok. In that case, well, I think the only thing we can do, IF we want to get the gauntlet, is to let Agnelia buy the Viper and get the Gauntlet with the rest of the funds. The remaining 500 Credits we then use to buy surpluss corn. What do you guys think?

Edit: Also.... "Agnelia, you know how to pilot a spacecraft?" This is it. I have no idea what this child is or where it comes from. I'll ask the UAS to give me any information they have on this child.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I nod, more sure of my abilities than I should be.

Some day, if I can get a two-way translator, I'd like to tell the story of how I hijacked a runabout leaving a spaceport in Alpha Centauri while I was on the run, and "convinced" the owner to explain how to fly it while she was tied up on the floor. It was glorious.

That doesn't necessarily mean I can pilot a ship particularly well, but my inflated ego and slight inebriation are telling me otherwise.

I don't doubt that pooling your money will lead to more profits than buying four individual craft, but it changes the tactical situation a lot. Specifically, with three small ships, we'd have an advantage when we got the drop on the enemy in battle, because if they also have multiple small ships we could spread out our attacks and defeat more of them before they get a chance to act. With one large ship we would probably have an advantage if the enemy got the drop on us, though, for a similar reason - one round of concentrated enemy fire is far more likely to destroy a small ship than a big one.

Thinking about how the Wah'ri acted during the scenario in the OP, it seems extremely likely that we'll be the ones caught off guard, so really, pooling our money is a safe idea.

Oh, and we would actually have 1000 credits left over to buy grain with, Ozzy, not 500 credits.

We have 14,000 to start with. The restored Gauntlet is 9,500, and can seat two. We'd have 4,500 left. I'm kinda looking at the Viper. It's 3,000 credits, and would seat the other two. There would be 1500 credits left for cargo. With grain being 4 credits per unit, I think this means we'd use 375 cargo space of the 380 total that we'd have between the two ships.

*Edit: At least, I'm pretty sure of this math?

Sure, if you wanted to spend every possible credit on grain. It won't do us any good when we're dead. I'd rather have two thirds as much grain plus some missiles.

Hrm. If we spend 1,000 credits on cargo (so, 250 units of grain), and get, say, four Stingers (two for each craft?) I think that leaves us with 100 credits to spare.

Yeah, I think doing what Lintis just proposed is the best idea, we get a lot of cargo, some extra weaponry and have some credits to spare.

You are electing to purchase the Gauntlet (9,500), a Viper (3,000), 250 units of grain, (totaling 1000 credits) and two stinger missiles per ship/four missiles, totaling 400. (Needle missiles and breaker missiles don't have tracking. Stinger missiles are only as powerful as breaker missiles, but they do have tracking.). This brings the total purchase to 13,900 credits.

Have you reached a consensus?

YES
NO

5958
Wait, wait. I had assumed that spending 500 credits on "Titan Missiles" meant permanently upgrading the missile bay to launch titan missiles, which got replenished automatically somehow. Not that they cost 500 credits per missile.

Which is it?

Missiles are purchased per unit. They're ammunition, not a gun. Once they're spent, they're spent. Mines, flares, missiles, and decoys all count as expendable stock and will have to be replaced upon depletion.

This is a good question. Odd, feel free to jump in any time.

EDIT: By the way, Oz, since this an actual purchase using everyone's money, I'm waiting for at least three yes votes.

I've been wondering this myself. Has he simply forgotten this game exists, or what?

*Edit: Just saw your edit, piano. Consider me a "yes".
