PRESIDENT TRUMP

I'm mostly interested in what South Park will do next. I wonder if they made an episode for if Clinton won and one if Trump won.
author=LockeZlol, are you serious?
Jesus Christ, get a grip. It's not that big a deal. Getting the president you don't like isn't great, but it's not worse than, like, stubbing your toe.
Trump may not have full autonomy with policy-making, but he can easily (and will undoubtedly) choose far-right Supreme Court justices that could impact this country's social atmosphere for decades.
He can also move social-policy cases through the courts with seasoned constitutional lawyers, which could potentially impact anyone who isn't a straight/wealthy white male. If you don't believe that's substantive reason to be angry, you should 'get a grip' yourself.
The only silver lining in the long-term is that Trump has utterly demolished the two-party paradigm going forward. I hope this can give way to an idealogical reevaluation from both parties - literally from the ground-up.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

None of which is likely to have even half as much of an effect on you as stubbing your toe.

this. while i think trump is despicable, i can at the very least respect the unrest that both he and bernie crafted. it's not like i disagree with every single one of his policies, but the ones that we do disagree on are because america should not be a draconian third-world country.

There is a lesson to be learned from this. An honest lesson for life as well.
Resting on your laurels, living in a bubble, these things hold you back. In this case, it was "we are right and everyone who disagrees with us is a racist." Well... come on. You know it's not just that. Humans are complex, politics is complex.
I encourage Democrats to open their eyes to what actually went wrong, rather than "well this country just has too many racists in it." You're not going to learn anything from that. You wouldn't say that for personal failures would you? If you didn't get that promotion, would you just pout and blame everyone else for being stupid? Not if you plan on ever being successful.

if you knew how to understand other people, you could see that in this very topic (and the world at large) there are liberal-leaning people discussing how aware they actually are. we have not been resting on our laurels. we have been loud about our beliefs and our distrust of a broken system.
maybe you find it hard to see because you attract such animosity towards yourself for being a smug, thigh-driven, simplistic man. and before you call me out for always targeting you, maybe you should ask yourself why you bothered showing up in this topic in the first place. rmn is allowed to have discourse, but being a haughty finger-waggler isn't gonna do it. put that finger in whatever hole you've found recently, or better yet, just keep making music instead of getting off on shitting over rmn.

all i know about today is that i did what i could for my kids, and that my grandfather got his (literal) dying wish. i hope his inheritance will pay for my shock therapy.

i deal with racism, homophobia, islamophobia, and all the other shitty aspects of humanity fueled by a campaign such as trump's -- ones that could be soon backed with legal action -- on a daily basis. it is not just going to go away and it is not just going to evaporate. so, kindly, go sit in the corner with harm for a few minutes.

Trump's promise to repeal Obamacare is a big one. I got health insurance for 3 years when I would've gone uninsured otherwise. People talk shit about the ACA constantly, but it was a big deal to me. I have little faith in their promises to replace it with something better.
Pence's fight to legalize electric shock "therapy" for gay kids is a big one in my book, too. Additionally, his fight to legalize discrimination if it's supported by religion is a huge problem for me.
Also, the tax cuts would've helped me out significantly, and also, the national debt increasing by the amount Trump is proposing is really dangerous for our economy as well as for very, very helpful entitlements.
Like, quite a few of these things are going to affect me & many people I know if they even come close to passing, which isn't unlikely given the new Republican branches.
I specifically voted for Obama because of Obamacare. The program proposed was the one that has done so well for people in Illinois. Unfortunately, the nationwide version (Obamacare) fell into the hands of Republicans that demanded so many rewrites that what the nation got was virtually useless. Only a few people benefited from it, and those who didn't discovered that Obamacare made insurance impossible to get. I've always voted democrat, but there was a time when I wasn't averse to voting republican sometimes. After the way the republican party acted when Obama got into office, I'll never consider voting republican again.

Craze, that paragraph of personal attacks was unnecessary and destructive.
If you're going to disagree, direct that venom towards the IDEA harmonic put forth. Personal insults are just as harmful to discourse, so don't do it.

A friend of mine just said this and I think it's... Idk, funny I guess?
"Why don't they get Trump on tax returns? That's how they got AlCapone!"
Also I don't really wanna say anything much but I mean, he seemed at leat slightly less evil-y when doing the winning speech, he mostly said nice things and not stuff about walls and stuffs.
And yup, I think that's all I gotta say, it's a subject I hope will die down soon so we can get back to talking about Icecream in Video Games and fun stuff!

I know it's Cracked but read it.
And get Vice-President Mike "electrocute the gay children" Pence to take his place?

Unless Trump gets caught in bed with a dead boy a Republican congress is not impeaching him.
Even if he gets caught in bed with a dead boy, they wouldn't impeach him.

It's the Congress I'm afraid of.
Trump will probably be relegated to what Bush was. "Here's a toy. Now go play while the grown ups discuss grown up topics."

You will find it was the boy's fault for being seduced by Donald's musky charisma, didn't you see what the kid was wearing? No true red blooded American patriot could resist it!

I totally expected there to be a highly emotional counter post when I decided to post here. Feelings are hurt from the loss and I'm me. So Craze's little outburst is very very predictable.
My post was very inoffensive. I could have come here and gloated, taking revenge for all the abuse I've yielded being in the right-leaning minority, but I didn't. I'm being conciliatory here. And it was actually pretty good advice. Doubling down on identity politics is not the answer. It's not how you're going to change minds and hearts. It just makes the other person feel like they're on defense, like why even bother finding common ground.

Craze's jam with you is on a personal level, harm. Don't talk yourself into thinking we're all a bunch of sore loser liberals around here.
But geez, there's also that. All the gloating we're going to have to put up with for awhile. Everybody thought it would be a Democratic washout. Even Trump himself, as he desperately tried suing Nevada during zero hour. This victory is like their Thermopylae.

Nah, this segment is pretty damn condescending. Why would you presuppose that the users here were necessarily 100% pro-Hillary in sentiment? The DNC is as corrupt as the RNC (if not more-so this election) - it favored corporatism over the populism that its rhetoric suggests, and now Trump's victory is the sad result.
I think most rational people could see that pretty transparently...at least I would hope so. I will admit that your idea itself is spot-on though - Democrats NEED to seriously reconsider their tactics if they want to remain any kind of viable political party.
People voted Trump because the alternative was a walking representation of everything wrong with U.S. politics. Not saying Trump was an ideal candidate(my preferred choice would have been Rand Paul, but sadly that didn't happen), but even with every flaw you could cite, nothing compares to how dangerous Hillary was.
She can take off the presidential suit and slip into an orange jump suit. She belongs in prison. People have been arrested for far less when it comes to classified information. The email scandal is but one issue among many others.

I fully support people's right to be extremely critical of any politician, but this prison nonsense really has to stop so we can all find a way to work together. Clinton is already quickly fading into irrelevancy, and anybody still chanting "lock her up" must realize which battles need to be picked from here on out. There are many more important matters to address moving forward, and we can't waste precious time on whatever conspiracy theories Infowars and Breitbart News is currently cooking up.
