[FORUM GAME] RISE OF THE HIGHLANDER

"Wow, you sure made that look like child's play Adira! I guess my paws aren't quite suited to gathering this stuff."
"Now then, I believe we've done all there is to do here, haven't we? I mean, sure, there's that phial, but if what Ratfest says is true, I'd rather stay far away from it."

I walk towards Ratfest by the door to the next area and wait to see if the rest wants to press on too.

"Good point."

Examine the phial but don't touch it.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I turn back to face the others. "It seems our prize is ahead. And with it, some sort of predator. Looks like a nest of giant spiders. And an active one, judging from the moistness."

"Ooooh, spiders! They bleed, right? Let's go kill em!"
I motion a suggestion to go into the room.

Nothing reveals Humanity so well as the games it plays. A game of betrayal, where the most suspicious person is brutally murdered? How savage.

Still studying the stone, I walk towards the rest of the group.

"I do not think the stone is dangerous. In fact, let me try something. Just in case though, I implore you to keep that stabilising machine at the ready."

I focus and try to to extract the power from the stone.

"Aww, I'd personally prefer to watch it pulverize you with it's sheer magical power, but fiiine, Adira, you should get the disc thing ready I guess."
I then add on, muttering:
"in case Boring McBoringson over here eviscerates themselves into a delicious pile of bones and sweet sweet blood..."

Impatient idiots. Just put it in a bag and figure it out later.

"Do whatever you like with that stone, but keep up. We move."

Lead the party forward to the room with the cube.
"Ratfest, I understand that you want to press on, but you shouldn't just barge off when others are still busy; you'll risk splitting up the group one day. Just be patient and wait until everyone's finished. We've only just entered this place after all, we still have plenty of time."

While the rest is still busy examining the artefacts in the room, I figure I might as well skim through my herbology guide to see if I can find some info on other plants that might grow in the surrounding area.

"Nono, Ratfest is quite right. We cannot stay here long. Some monster might catch hold of our scent. You lead the way Ratfest, I am right behind." I say, never once taking my eyes off the stone.

"Ratfest is right. We can always come back."

Cancel action. Follow Ratfest.
"Alright then."

I put my book back in my pack and, assuming Sophie is following right behind Ratfest, I follow behind Sophie as we head to the next room.

You guys can do mutliple "Small" actions or combine your small actions into one big one. For example, Adira and examine the phial while following the others into the room, and so I have taken the liberty to merge those actions this turn. I might not on later turns. However, looking through the herbology guide would need lots of concentration and would take a bit.

-----turn 8-----
The party decides to move on, having looked at almost everything they wanted to. Adira takes one last look at the phial 1 and sees absolutely nothing new, while Reistpay attempts to extract the power of the stone. With little effort, almost as if naturally, the power of the stone seeps into Reistpay, who feels the depths of his power grow a small amount. (+1 Spell Per day, to be gained tomorrow)

Ratfest leads the party into the room, the webs under his feet squish and stick to his boots making it difficult, though not impossible, to walk across them. Everyone has similar troubles, but get into the room enough. Ratfest is able to look past the glowing cube and see another door at the north end of the hall, this one completely frozen over, as well as covered in the sticky webs. There are lumps of webbing on the floor, as if they were covering something, and everyone begins to notice that the room is far colder than the other one. The glowing cube, the size of a small cat, continues to rotate and glow dully despite the party's presence.
A terrifying scream is heard echoing from behind, a very familiar voice, that's cut off abruptly.

I turn around and try to get behind the rest of the group. I quickly try to study the glowing cube to see if it will help or harm us.
I abruptly turn around as I hear the scream echo through the passageway.

"This is bad! If that scream came from who I think it did, it means that someone - or something - else is in here and clearly doesn't shy from attacking humanoids."
"As it stands now, we don't know enough about this... whatever it might be, to know if it'd be best to return or to stake out here and prepare for whatever might come at us."
"That said, I reckon these cobwebs would make it tough for us to do battle if it does come to that, so I propose that we at least return to the previous room until we know what is out there."

I remain by the doorway and wait to see what the rest thinks.

"If we fight in here, and our enemy is the weaver of this webbing, Sophie will be at a disadvantage. And I doubt any of the other denizens of these crumbling halls would venture into this room; we're the only ones so foolish. So we should assume that if we are attacked while in here, the attacker will be more at home than we are."

I peer down the hallway, which is barely the width of a door frame.

"But if we return, and are caught in that hall, then no matter what our opponent, we're dead."

I attach my meathook to my long chain.

"Our disadvantage may ironically be smallest in the center of the monster's nest. We have ranged weapons, so the webbing is a surmountable obstacle. Sophie, stay very close to me."

"Urgh, fine stinkbreath, just leave some of the killing to me."
"Alright. If we're staying here we'd best prepare as best as we can."

I look around the room to see if I can notice anything that might help us during a battle or other kind of trouble.

(How tall are daises? Are they anywhere remotely tall enough for someone to take cover behind them or are they only like a foot tall?)
