[MAFIA] RMN: WHEN THEY CRY (TEA PARTY)
Posts
Regarding Cap_H's reads being more consistent, well...what else would you expect from a Mafia who's sure of everyone's alignment? Considering the way the game has gone, I would argue the person who's the most sure of who's who is the most suspicious.
author=Yellow Magic
It was AFTER this point was revealed that Cap_H started gunning for Ozzy.
Oh, and also, Ozzy stepped it up against Cap_H. What better way to distance yourself from a fellow Mafia while you're a dead man walking than to accuse them??
Finally, I have to reiterate we have three confirmed roles and one non-confirmed one. That can't be ignored either.
It's been a pleasure, y'all.
#lynch Cap_H
Current vote count:
(with 4 alive it takes 3 to lynch)
Cap_H - 1:demonlord5000, Yellow Magic
Yellow Magic - 1: Cap_H
Time remaining:
In this game the only possible outcome is either you all or me winning. If you run out of time, I will win.
There are no draws. Please do not misunderstand that.

I'm pretty sure pancakes are people Cap suspects. Thus he says he suspects Ozzy in that post. And Ozzy started gunning for Cap long before he was a dead man walking. He did, however, encourage us to shoot you, which could be a way of distancing himself from you, especially if he knew you were a scum gunman and shooting you would thus be impossible. And that was actually when he was a dead man walking.
You have not convinced me with these last few posts. And this game has taken too long.

I'm not convinced either. Caps defense is too strong this day phase, so if you are scum, then well played.

The four glare at each other over Muffle's body. Waiting. Watching for any sudden moves. After a minute (or an eternity?) Demon walks over to his son and his nephew and puts a hand on each of their shoulders.
"Cap." Demonlord stands tall. "Leave. We all know it can't be you but... We must separate the wolves from the sheep. The Aremens from everyone else."
"I-I understand, sir." Cap, the old maid, servant of the Aremens for three generations, almost a mother to Ozzy... Cap leaves the bedroom and vanishes into the dim of the manor.
The three final Aremens begin their watch. Jeroen and Yellow take turns guarding the window. Demon paces back and forth, past the three bloody corpses, rereading the letter of the witch. "PRAISE MY NAME."
Night approaches, then midnight. As the storm outside continues to rage, a ring echoes through the room. It's the phone, on the nightstand. It rings again. At the window, Yellow raises his Winchester on guard. Demon snaps to attention. Jeroen holds up the receiver for all to hear. A voice... could it be the witch? No, a scream. Cap screaming for help. And then a laugh. The laughter echoes with feedback, like it's coming from... inside the room itself?
Demonlord and Jeroen wheel around. Framed against the window, a silhouette, holding a rifle! Jero fires. Demon fires. The black figure twists and falls. But as the body lands, it becomes clear -- this was no witch, only the newly dead Yellow M. Aremen.
"No! No, my son, no!" Demon's face contorts in agony, but only for a moment. Before Jeroen can react, Demon grabs the Winchester from his hands. "Stay here. Look after Yellow. You must survive." In an instant, Demonlord is out the door. Try as Jeroen might, the door won't budge. Demon must've blocked it with something on the way out! All Jero can do now is wait as outside in the blackness --
"Witch! Show yourself! As the heir and protector of House Aremen, I challenge you!"
One final BANG. Two seconds, a laugh, and then... Jeroen feels a hand on his shoulder.

Yellow Magic: Aremen Gunner is dead, killed by mob justice.
demonlord5000: Aremen Protector is dead, killed by the Golden Witch, Cap_H.

So there was a scum protector after all.
Well, I immediately rejected that idea, so I guess that was the first reason I never could have solved the game. GG Cap, you sure threw me for a loop.

I mentioned a game I had where each side had almost the exact same role... there was a protector on both sides... I should have been more clear apparently...
Well we put up a valiant effort. We assumed scum gunman was more likely than scum defender. Even if cap had been able to prove himself at the end we still would have lynched yellow.
I didn't think much of my roles flavor text other than it being flavor, but perhaps I should have taken the fact that I used hexagrams to defend more seriously.

Well, we did assume there was a gunman on both sides here. That made more sense to me than a protector on both sides. But in hindsight, with the amount of town gunmen, of course a scum protector would also make sense.

Well, at least I can take solace in knowing I was right about Ozzy, and I was even right when I said his sudden mentioning of a roleblocker seemed like it came from prior knowledge. That's good enough for me. I did my town duty. Just couldn't quite pull through at the end.
Jeroen, you really shouldn't blame yourself when this is all down on YM...who when everyone in the game tells him to shoot Cap_H, he shoots Muffle instead, basically confirming him scum for anyone that doesn't know he's actually town!
I hate this game, I'm never playing again, see you in the next one
Watching cap trick town at the end was a ton of fun for me, in case you couldn't tell. XD

I feel like I've been too hesitant with my power too though. I was so scared of a 3-man scumteam that I decided to take the safe option 2 nights in a row. If we had actually coordinated to indeed shoot Cap after lynching Ozzy, we would have been golden.
Not golden witch though. Just golden.
this game serves as a good data point for why you dont NOT HANG someone. in this case we had the opportunity to kill someone AND prove someone else to be scum at the same time, and somehow it didn't happen.
This was fun to run/set up but damn now I'm hankering for Simple Mafia for Boring People.
Scum protector is a funny role, justification for it here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1haKR5D_WBebt3na69zHTkki7G5UIVPuu17o5bXGMTDI/edit#gid=2032398221, but basically, it makes massclaim less effective and warns scum that protectors exist so that scum can use their RB correctly. With more players it probably would've been a gunner instead. It's really unfortunate that Jero was correct about the role != alignment thing but just, about the wrong role.
Scum play of the game definitely Cap's N4 gambit -- he didn't withhold his kill, he actually both nk'd and protected Jeroen. So if Jero was still alive the next day, he'd be able to 100% know who demonlord protected. And town play of the game was demon/cave blocking the n1 kill, even if that created a ton of gunner confusion.

oh yeah demonlord and i had a psychic link this game. we both blocked me n1 and then both blocked demon n2. unfortunately n2 didn't matter but w/e.
