HELLO EVERYONE!

Hello, my name is Sean. I recently completed making a demo for an RPG using MV on the Nintendo Switch. It was an exhausting but rewarding process. I figured it would be helpful to network with others who are interested in playing RPG Maker creations and to learn what the best ways to proceed after the project you've been working on is finished

Oh, you'll find all sorts of opinions on what to do when your game is finished here!

Most of those opinions involve playing among us and garfield kart with members of the community while voice chatting on discord. Because really, who jumps immediately onto a new gamedev project right after completing one?

The project is finished for now. I only intended to develop it as a demo. I could always potentially add more but there is no plan to do so at this point. So, besides Garfield Kart (lol)... I'm trying to figure out, now what do I do with it? I want people to play it! (Lol)

Welcome to RMN! Share your creativity with us!

Though, it seems that's exactly what you want to do! I just haven't the foggiest how to do it with the Switch port of MV. My guess is that if there is a deploy option, it's likely to deploy for Switch? Of course, this is merely a very large assumption on my part. I only really work with the PC versions of RPG Maker, and even then, I basically only work with Ace.

*Edit: The fact that you have 5 MS makes me think you've already submitted a gamepage. Took a peek into the queue out of curiosity. I can verify that my suspicion was correct, but no more than this.

Hey Martens, I did submit a game page a couple of days ago. Now I'm just waiting for it to get approved. Unfortunately, the one requirement to play my game is to own a Nintendo Switch as there is no way to transfer the data from a Switch to a PC. In terms of sharing the game with anyone who is able and willing to try it out though, I'm very much excited to do this! But what's the best way to bring exposure to your game page, which I imagine can easily get lost in a flood of other games that people have posted over the years?

I think the best advise to give here is to just tell everyone! I've always felt this advise in regards to marketing is, in itself, a fine line to walk. Of course, letting as many people know about it as possible to get people to play it, but also to not come across as annoying, and have this appearance of mentioning it every five seconds, or whatever.

Generally speaking, it's best to drum up interest pre-completion- post gam pag, talk about development, post screenshots, etc.

You do have a p. golden opportunity right now because a lot of folks are talking about the Misaos, so head over to that thread and post once your page has been approved.

You can also get some interest via social media if you've got a decent presence. Mostly it's a waiting game of continually posting stuff and seeing if anything manages to strike gold.

If you want to get popular here in particular, it helps to interact a lot with the community outside of advertising: team up in events, add resources, make fun posts and comments, maybe review a few things. Networking is super important in eensy niche communities like this one.

Good luck!

Thanks for the ideas! I do have a Twitter account (@KNeandria) where I've been trying to drum up interest but as I only started the account a few weeks ago, my following is too small to have any impact yet. I'll be sure to post on the thread you linked to once my game page is approved though! Aside from pictures, I do have some YouTube videos and an article from a Nintendo website (miketendo64.com) that was written on it---would it be appropriate to share those in the Misaos thread now, or should I wait until my game page is greenlit here, as you suggested? Or is there another area on the forum that it's permitted to post something with the media I've mentioned at this point? I know some sites are very strict when it comes to anything that can be perceived as self-promotion (Eurogamer is the worst, and seems to have a ban on anything RPG Maker related).

Once you have an accepted gamepage, you should be able to submit media to it. Such as YouTube videos related to the game, fan-art, or perhaps writing inspired by the game. Mod mode: If you upload fant-art made by another person, please link to the original artist's site, or the site where you got it from. Thank you. The article about the game from the Nintendo website might be an interesting tidbit to add to a blog, but, it might also be an interesting tidbit to add to the game's description too.

Hey, so I submitted my game on 12/7 and it's still... 'pending'. Is that normal? Seems like the process for approval is absurdly slow if it is.

Under normal circumstances, a game submission can be on the queue for about a week. Of course, extenuating circumstances can arise, and the moderator in charge of looking over game submissions (Liberty) can take longer.

In this case, I can see two possibilities. Either holidays are getting in the way of site business, or perhaps you missed the window where she last checked it. You may want to consider PMing Liberty now, or perhaps see if it's still pending after two weeks?

My best advise here in either case is if/when you do PM Liberty, explain that the submission has been pending, and for how long, asking (courteously!) if there needs to be more things (or other things) for the gamepage to be acceptable.
