2007 MISAOS

Posts

I thought Beloved Rapture was considered to be one of the best games this year. That changed when i saw that it got voted under the category

Worst game of the year
Tau
RMN sex symbol

If you actually play through it again DD, you will understand why it was nominated for that catagory, it's not a bad game though, just not what we all thought it was going to be.

And wow, RMXP.org spammed the awards, Vernandos Luce deserved to win best supporting character! Master of the Wind isn't anything great as well, Starless Umbra has WAY better gameplay then that!

Oh and congrats to the winners, and Kentona you won quite a bit!

Shit man I haven't played many of these at all. :\

We know, Mr. Laxius Power 2007.

(I tried to like rmxp.org. I really did. But the LOLEBAY LAST-MINUTE MISAO RUSH is just lame, guys :<)

Yeah, don't you just hate when a democratic process is presented to people and they actually use it? Community spirit is for losers.

On a more pleasant note, I do want to thank RMN for putting this on, and I'm not just saying that because ArtBane and I did well. It was much more effectively managed than I had seen in recent years, so kudos.
I'd hardly compare this to Laxius power. A new community starts voting in the awards and despite having some poor taste in some games it isn't exactly like one dude called down thousands of cronies to vote on his own game.

Also man just thinking of Laxius Power and the poorly drawn anime porn with the nipplesss..v.fwrbvcfd why did you remind me
I find it funny how for the past years where rmxp was not presented, no one said a thing; and this year people actually show up, and it's called a Misao rush. Same thing goes out to the non-rmxpers in the past years, with that logic? And sorry for participating, I suppose?

With these kind of things, there will always be complaints and there will always be disagreements - just as there will always be an uneven amount of participants by nature.

One's taste is poor to another, just as another's taste is poor to one. Perhaps the right thing to do instead, is to make the people with the same taste care enough to participate? And if you feel that it is all just public bandwagon, then why not be a high brow yourself and not care? The important thing is to realize that none of us or you are righteous in whichever way that may apply here, and it is a tendency for the raw human ego to judge skeptically as a result of these things.

And by the above message, I am not saying whether some awards are deserved or not - but things turned out the way they did, so let it be, however its driving force were and how disagreeable they might be to some. There will be disagreements and complaints for these things no matter what the result is, as people's preferences and whatnot are not universally uniform.

(Edit: Just a general response, not at anyone too particular. And Despain posted before I submitted post. D: )

I wouldn't call it a Rush. We advertised the Misaos there and they responded. It's how it works. I wish everyone else would do it as well! The more, the merrier.

I have personal disagreements with some of the winners (I <3 Rise of the Third Power). But as Holb said, they responded so there you go.
We sent word out to here (RMN), Gaming World, Indie Gaming Portal, RMXP.org, RPG RPG Revolution (I think), Kobra's Realm, Ghostlight Games, Townshipgames, and tried to get word out to Charas.

Heh heh. Sorry, I'm just a sore loser for other people's games, and I hold strange personal vendettas. :-*

I was surprised that the banners on the top of rmxp.org were a day+ late, and that's really what I was trying to say. You need people on your staff that have no life to check websites across the web and update that kind of stuff.

Nobody really cares that much about RM*/has enough integrity, though, so whatever.

To be honest, I didn't love Master of the Wind, but what I played (through the deluxe two-part version or whatever, I believe) was solid.

I posted this suggestion on GW, but I'll post it here as well.

I think what heavily influenced the vote is, people are going to vote for what they know.
A random example:
Let's say 4 games are up for a certain category:
Game A
Game B
Game C
Game D
and let's say that Game C is the best game to ever grace the internet.
Now, let's take a random voter. This voter only visits one area of indie development, and has only heard of Game A. So chances are, they are going to vote for Game A, even though, if they knew more about Game C, they would prob vote for C.

One suggestion I could make, is to provide an example of the games that are nominated. So if the award is for graphics, link to a couple screenshots, or if it's for best demo/game, a link to the game. Perhaps have a field in the nominate category option to post a link to such things.
People are inherently lazy, but if you make it easy for them, they might actually take the time to look.

Not to discredit what won or anything, I personally have no complaints with the winners (besides being utterly surprised that Valdis Story didn't cream me in Original Graphics)

Heh, well I'm not asking for blind love of our game by any means, simply respect for those who chose to participate when given the chance. I'm a strong believer in activism of any type, even regarding something as irrelevant to real-world matters as the RM world. I'm in favor of a high turnout from any community at the Misaos and I hope that maybe we'll see a last minute LOL EBAY DEMOCRAT RUSH this November here in the USA's presidential elections.

Though I do like to think the two parts after the Super Pack show us farther along in terms of the game's overall quality. It's true that neither mine nor AB's specialty was ever visuals, but we do hear the feedback and we've tried to improve.

I am not a visual person, Volrath. I'm not sure why you added that. =P

Also, I full-heartedly agree with LOLEBAY DEMOCRAT RUSH.

P.S. Despain will still be known as "Mr. Laxius Power" in my heart.
Those aside, I think it is utterly ironic to complain about the number of a certain side showing up - which, by the way, is still minuscule in comparison to the overall members on either side.

Instead of being bitter about the one side actually participating in the event as intended, perhaps it'd be good realizing that the whole phenomenon was because the lack of participation on the other side even when given the opportunity to start with. Calling wrong to someone/community for participating as intended just because oneself decided to sit on the couch and complain afterwards, is just like sit there and starve then complain that the restaurant didn't walk to you.

Which is why I find
(I tried to like rmxp.org. I really did. But the LOLEBAY LAST-MINUTE MISAO RUSH is just lame, guys :<)
preposterously laughable. Not that I am saying that all the awards are suddenly perfectly righteous on an omniscient level, but it's a matter of one side doing their part and the other side didn't. It would sit well if just left at that understanding, but God knows why it's easier to blame the others.

After trying to come up with some sort of witty response, I decided you win. Also, Reives, do you think we can start bickering on more forums? It'd be more dynamic that way.
You know what I love the most about you? You remind me of me. More specifically, the way you duck for cover with the let's-hug approach whenever things get messy. :p
Heh, given the rancor on Gaming World this evening, I feel bad getting as uppity as I did over the comments in this topic. I've grown fond of this community, actually. Let's all get ice cream.
Hopefully i'll have my game fully up and running for next years misaos.

Then it's Demon Destiny's time to shine. ;D
