GAMES THAT HAVE STOOD THE TEST OF TIME?
Posts
Y'know older games that even today are still great to play and not held back by older game mechanics, stories, etc.
I think a couple of games come to mind when I think of this question, Sonic Genesis/Megadrive games. Mario Kart/Bros, Street Fighter, Chrono Trigger, etc. So what do you think?

Uncharted Waters 2 is the first one that springs to my mind. Older PC game that I think might have been on the SNES as well.
Considering I was just playing Uncharted Waters 2 I would have to concur. I never even played the game back when it came out and I still love it now.
Tetris is still an excellent game.
Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World are still some of the best entries in the genre of 2d platforming today. (You could say that 2d platforming had nowhere to go after those games)

Captain Obvious Answer: Most games from the NES stood the test of time because it's what we grew up with. Most things that we judge games on nowadays (gameplay/graphics/music/controls) don't really matter, it's that we love to go back to a simpler time in our youth when we'd try to squeeze in whatever time we could before or after school to play and then tell all of our friends how far we got in Level 5, or how much we hated fighting the boss from World 3.
Even today I go back on the emulators to play games like Kirby's Adventure and the Megaman series. I don't know why I can keep playing them over and over before I get bored, but it most likely ties in to my initial point. There were those old PC games that my schools had such as Number Muncher, some submarine game, another treasure searching ship game, Oregon Trail and the sort, while I played other games at home such as The Lost Vikings, Keen, Age of Empires, Theme Park, and the list goes on.
The final boss in Snake Rattle 'N Roll fills me with rage.

Pacman is a great example of this. How many ports has that game had already?
I'm also tempted to say Super Puzzle Fighter II: Turbo as well.
