I'm currently spriting my character sheets with the ripped character bases I've got. I honestly change everything about those sprites, I just need the basic movement.

Anyway, I finally finished Hisao's spritesheet. That means I can finally start doing playtests. And I can record a few scenes to show what you can do and how the game basically 'feels' like. That's a huge step for me. =)
Welp, I'm mostly finished with the mapping for the first part of my game, and now I'm busy getting the events set up. Then, it's monsters, items (I have a simple crafting system set up), techniques, music and finally dialogue. I wanted to have a submission by May 15th, but I suspect it might have to wait till late May, early June.

Currently fleshing out a new game idea, which is essentially Breaking Bad: The jRPG, with magic instead of crystal meth.

I'm still stuck on whether to set the game in modern day or more of a medieval fantasy era. There's more room for innovation in a modern setting, but I like the idea of juxtaposing FF-style scenery with a criminal underworld. Hmm...
Trying to finish up the first six hours ( out of a possible 25 ) of my third VX game.
Map making, scene eventing, plot progression; the usual of what passes for gam-mak for me.

Because I have to make some form of allusion to apartheid ( being South African ). But it's also a major plot pusher.
@Yuna: Oooooh, nice topic !

I'm setting my first major map in my game. I have to figure out whether to section off the particular district for the time being so I can have the player familiarize themselves with the world without being overwhelmed.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

If you call it Petrifying Bad, I will love you long time
Working with my artist friend to get the first art of my characters. I can't wait to see them!
Oh, the lead character looks epic so far! Well worth the money I'm going to pay her. *drools*

yes

Also, I'd say a modern setting, since BB has a lot of realistic elements, and magic would mix well with those elements.
Hey, does anyone know what the difference is between a Featured Game and a game on Developmental Spotlight?

On another note, going to get some old data from a friend today. Perhaps I can use it to help with my new project. We shall see.
Making custom tilesets, which is fun yet very, very not fun.

Finished my MC's sprite sheet, though I might go back later and add some more detail...Still haven't decided!

Yeah, I'm leaning towards a modern setting myself...unfortunately, as I would be working with VX Ace, I'm a bit worried that my game wouldn't have the same impact with chibi-like sprites.

Sure, I could convert some 2k3 graphics or whatever but that can end up being a pretty time-consuming process.

I'm reasonably sure someone out there has already imported all the RMXP graphics into VX Ace's format.
@Yellow Magic: I've got a few XP graphics in VX format. I can send you them if you want to have them, they are pretty much useless to me anyway. :)

That or you could just parallax, and that way you can include any new resources you want.

Just had a big breakthrough for my RPG. I intend to have it be a three-character adventure, probably episodic. There are eight classes the main character can switch to (with the supporting heroes having their own classes; might give one to the main protagonist at some point? IDK), each proficient in a specific weapon (though each class can equip any weapon except the allies' weapons). The main heroine can equip any armor, while her compatriots are more geared toward melee on one guy, and magic on the... em... "androgynous" person.

It doesn't seem like much, but things are clicking in my head left and right. I had trouble trimming the fat on the project, and was stuck in a rut of the same nonsense. Now, I feel my mind is clear enough to start working on the demo and prototyped game. =D

EDIT: Also, two things I forgot. (pretty late IRL, at the time of my posting this). Each weapon group has its own unique effects, and I finally decided on the races I wanted in-game. Hopefully the weapon groups will allow for further heroine customization and strategy. Further, I had a HUGE amount of trouble on the races: going with human, beast-like humanoids (think the Shifter race from D&D's Eberron setting), and anthropomorphic dragons.
Working on a Dino Crisis tileset.

Redoing my entire intro scene. It's been the same for 4+ years now and doesn't really fit anymore. So I'm cutting the entire thing out(it was only two fading text screens leading to a title screen, really) and replacing it with a much more in-depth intro.

I'm also redoing my equipment system yet again. On top of the normal equipment system, characters can equip an Edge, which determines the material of their weapon and provides a slight boost to damage. This acts as more of a permanent upgrade. Getting a better edge will improve your damage, but not to the extent that buying a new weapon would.

I was considering having players buy and equip armor as a set, instead of separate pieces. Instead of buying and equipping "Plate Mail", "Plate Helm" and "Plate Shield", for example, they'd just buy and equip a single item called "Plate Armour Set". Not sure if I want to do that yet, though, but it's on my mind. I'm trying to simplify certain elements that aren't all that fun while expanding the more entertaining parts of the game.
The gun animation for Regina is smooooooth. I really dig it!
