@Dethmetal : really love those facesets (it would be better of course not to mix them with the defaults ones but I suppose that's what you intend to do).

@LockeZ : great map, the objects are wonderfully done, setting, road and all.

I'm considering a different genre/approach for the western that would focus more on gameplay than aesthetics...

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

It's not a normal fighting game though, it's a smash brothers game. Aside from Final Destination, the simplest stage in the latest Smash Brothers game is a two-story bucket that you have to destroy the upper walls of before you can defeat people by launching them in any direction other than up. Most of the others have multiple things that appear and move around, things that explode when you touch them, random events that shoot at you, triggerable events that attack your opponent, constantly shifting terrain, destroyable floors, barrels you can shoot out of, etc.

I mean if he were making literally any other fighting game besides a Smash Brothers fan game, I'd totally agree with you. But if you're making a Smash Brothers fan game, I don't care what it looks like, I just care what it does.
Crusade appears to be made with competitive level Smash Brothers in mind. Any level that can kill a player other than by falling or ring out is banned from competitive play... Except the Halberd in Brawl for some reason.

In my opinion, unless you are playing 4 person and party-mode, the stage should do as little as possible. There are lots of options for that, not just Final Destination. Battlefield, Yoshi's Story, Dreamland, Smashville, Pokemon Stadium 1, etc.

Would that be more of a tactics game? Just judging how the layout looks.
Simple or not, used often or not, for competetive or not; any fighting game can only benefit from having more stages. Even if you personally will never want to play "those types".

I usually prefer my levels to just sit there for me to play on, but sometimes it's fun to pick interactive ones. I question the size of the competitive smash crusade scene haha The physics of the game are not comparable to actual smash. I'd rather spend my time playing real smash.

It's a cool gimmick game, that mimics smash. I don't see the smash laws of level picking applying here.

Crusade looks like it'd be a terrible competitive game. I'm sure it's fun, but I doubt they made it specifically with that in mind. It's just a few games making it, IIRC, so it'd be hard for them to make tons of interactive stages I'm guessing.

I was trying out VXAce for the first time, i guess
my castle mapping came out better than I expected, i mean the lighting, i suck at mapping.

Um... this is just some random adventure i'm making up on the spot as i toy around hehe

(its dark because its a run down castle invaded by...some dark lord something.)
