..:: MAP DESIGN FUN #8 ::..
..:: BEFUDDLE QUEST ::..

I'm taking this in a BOLD NEW DIRECTION.

Welcome to Map Design Fun #8: Befuddle Quest, a collaborative puzzle/maze game community project.  Using a specific product, RPG Maker 2003, we will each make a single map puzzle using RTP and I will link them together in a quest.  Why RM2k3? Because it's accessible to the majority of people and because it's pretty easy to link maps together using it.  That, and I'm running the show and that's what I use (because I'm old).

RULES ::..
  • Participants must use RM2k3
  • Participants must only make one map
  • No battles or anything that involves the Database
  • No instant Game Overs (restart the puzzle instead)
  • No Teleport events - use Recall to Memorized Position
  • Encouraged to use RTP
  • The hero is Zack, the first default hero in RM2k3

STORY ::..
Our poor friend Zack has been captured by the evil Baron von Niddly and locked away in his menacing tower for daring to fall in love with the Baron's beautiful daughter Broomhilda.  Poor Zack!

Now Zack must escape the nefarious Baron's befuddling tower and make his way to his love and impressing the Baron with his puzzle solving skills!

CSS, You Might Also Like and reviews

I've added a cute cloudy background to the Befuddle Quest gamepages, in keeping with the titlescreen's theme. Are there any other changes we ought to make? I think that the other developers listed for this game have full control of the gamepage and its style so feel free to make it look good/unique. As I am a dev for all 3 I can copy the style across all 3 to keep in consistent.

I would also like to make this game and its sequels a part of the You Might Also Like... gamepage movement. However, I'm at a bit of a loss to what 3~5 games we should link to! For BQ3 it would make sense to link to I Expect You To Die and Tokens & Tigers given that those puzzles are present in BQ3, but for the rest we need suggestions.

Lastly, it would be really cool to get some reviews for the BQ games. Surely someone has an opinion on them!

This game was a bit weird at the start, but then it got goo puzzles like the switches, the room maze with the beeps, and the time loop which completely messed my head for about half an hour but which I finally solved, that one is really a piece of art...now the puzzle in the cave wtf, makes no sense at all and I won't have the patience to brute solve it...puzzles are meant to be at least a bit intuitive not completely o.0 like this one...it would be nice to put in a walkthrough together with the game, it would prevent a lot of frustrated players like I am now lolz
Thanks for playing!

There are walkthroughs posted for some of the puzzles on the Walkthrough tab, but of course not all of them are there. I wonder if I still have the walkthrough for the final cave from Liberty...
