One Night 2: The Beyond is the long awaited sequel to the original RPG Maker VX survival horror game, first released in mid 2010.

Set almost thirty years before the original game, One Night 2 is a Lovecraftian adventure game where you must solve the mystery of Mairstone Manor, a house controlled by an ancient, malevolent evil, and discover the origins of the horror.

With an eldritch presense of unknown origin bearing down upon you, it's going to take everything you can muster to escape from Mairstone Manor alive.

Ultimate Edition Released!

As of today, the Ultimate Edition of One Night 2: The Beyond is online for your enjoyment. This new build is a much needed update in the vein of my recent Ultimate Edition updates for Legionwood and One Night.

It rewrites a good percentage of the game's text for clarity (as this game was written three years ago now and it was starting to feel a little "off" to me) and adds some oft-requested gameplay tweaks (such as key items being removed from your inventory when no longer needed) to the engine. In addition, there's also quite a large handful of new content to enjoy in the form of new enemies (two, to be exact), new scares, a bunch of new rooms and locations (a brand new Factory area underneath the mansion) and puzzles, which should entice veteran players to give the game another run-through.

The new rooms are based on some of the unused areas from One Night 1.5, the original (scrapped) One Night sequel, and these locations, along with a newly added Easter Egg (try examining the barrel in the 1F East Hallway 30 times) should provide a little bit of insight into what the game could have been. Personally, I'm always interested in such things (I have an obsession with Resident Evil 1.5, for one) and if you are too, then you'll probably appreciate the additions.

All in all, the Ultimate Edition of One Night 2 should take anywhere between 2 and 3 hours to complete (perhaps a little longer if you're aiming for the good endings).

This game definitely the strong one compared to the other ON.
(Well, all your games is very good. Reminds me of Capcom. XD)
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it. Keep an eye out for One Night 4, coming in a while :)
I already played ON4 demo. It was pretty scary...enough.
I was too scared to make another move.. but managed to
reach the end... half alive. xD. So, keep it up.
(P.S : I really enjoyed your game. I hope it will reach till
ON5 or more) :)

Cheers!
I'm still playing the 3rd game, but I think this one will be my favorite of the series. Simple and awesome. It wasn't that scary too me, although it takes a lot to scare me. There were a lot of "What the hell?" moments though. And I beat the game with the good ending on my first try in about 2 hours total, though I still wasn't able to get through the door in the dining room, unless it wasn't meant to be. I'm also wondering what script you used for the simple battle system. I always wanted to make a game similar to that style, but didn't think it was possible, now I know it is. I looked all over for a script similar, but I couldn't find anything. Was it it just your handy work at events?
Anyway, awesome game series. I like the storyline also. :)
Yes, it was completely done with events. If you look at the enemy events, you'll see how -- it's actually quite simple to do.

If you liked One Night 2, I have something of a spiritual successor in development at the moment. Check out: http://rpgmaker.net/games/6493/
I would really like to play this game, but i have one problem it works fine when ported into RPGhub for mac but since the game is fullscreen it bugs out really bad. i tried thos on a friends macbook and it did the same thing, is there a way to force it into a windowed mode?
Press Alt + Enter to force it into windowed mode.
More than an acceptable prequel that, as a second installment in the One Night saga, improves many things from its predecessor.

The story is consistent and perfectly carried throughout the game, revealing certain hidden elements that will open the player's eyes in surprise. All the information that we have before us is a bit confusing but with time everything is explained, it's comforting.

There is a wide variety of rooms, corridors, and locations, although the fact that you have to go through those locations 100 times helps a lot to easily remember locations and shortcuts.

Being able to choose between 2 different players is great, it gives you a deeper sense of immersion. Your character is unassuming and never goes for cheap drama or jumpscares to scare you. There is always a feeling in the air that grabs you to find out more.

Each character does what they have to do, they are professionals in their field, not like some cheap teen-horror movie adaptation. It's appreciated to play as adults.

The difficulty of the puzzles is high, but by studying them well they can be solved. The ending is surprising at least, although the fact that it is the default takes a lot out of so much effort. Is it worth getting the good ending? Maybe, but I don't think so.
